We are currently looking for a Supervisor to join our newly developed Quality Control (QC) Robotics Automation team. In this role, you will provide guidance to our hardworking QC Analysts on the floor and in the lab, helping the team navigate the ambiguity of this new area encompassing Quality Control lab automation. You will have the opportunity to lead the group's projects and daily tasks, supporting regular automation operations or testing activities. A focus of this role will be leading and/or contributing to the identification, assessment, development and implementation of robotics and automation needs and initiatives within the Quality Control department. The ideal candidate will have software and laboratory equipment qualification or validation experience.

As a Supervisor QC Robotics Automation, a typical day might include the following:
  • Coordinating, organizing and assigning daily or short-term activities of automation operation and testing.
  • Evaluating a variety of laboratory procedures and conducting system analysis, finding opportunities for automation/robotics to drive quality, efficiency and consistency.
  • Identifying technology solutions available and evaluating them for effectiveness, feasibility, and GMP and regulatory compliance.
  • Interacting with project teams and vendors for the implementation of automation/robotics initiatives throughout all stages:
    • Defining project scope and priority, technical evaluation of method changes for impact to automated processes within QC.
    • Developing user requirements for the automation project, including equipment purchase/justification, qualification, and system integration.
    • Future laboratory design and buildout.
    • Development of relevant standard operating procedures (SOPs) as applicable.
  • Providing support for automation/robotics related investigations and other quality processes.
  • Providing guidance to QC leadership in assessing resource, equipment and space needs.
  • Regularly interacting with senior management or executive levels.
  • Exercising judgment and exerting influence on the overall automation objectives and long-range goals of the QC Department.
  • Representing the department in relevant internal/external committees.
  • Leading special projects as assigned by department management.

To be considered for this position you must have a BS in biology, chemistry, biochemistry or a related field along with 5+ years of relevant experience, preferably in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry. Ideal candidates will have a strong science or engineering background with relevant hands-on laboratory experience. Project management experience and certification is preferred.
