The Mechanisms of Cancer Resistance (MoCR) group in Cambridge, MA is seeking an In Vivo Pharmacology Research Scientist to join the Oncology Discovery Pharmacology and In Vivo Biology group. This individual will assume a hands-on role in the drug discovery process by conducting in vivo experiments aimed at advancing early stage therapeutic targets.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a breadth of experience in using in vivo rodent oncology models, is highly motivated, agile, self-driven, interactive, and creative. We are seeking a candidate that demonstrates clear and professional verbal and written communication, and is capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders. This individual will possess the ability to work across a matrixed environment to advance preclinical drug development programs from target identification/validation through IND enabling activities and is expected to effectively collaborate with colleagues across the broader oncology organization.

Qualifications & Responsibilities
  • B.S with a minimum of 7 years of post-graduate relevant experience or
    M.S with a minimum of 4 years of post-graduate relevant experience
  • > 2 years of experience in a biotech/pharma setting with a demonstrated record of leveraging in vivo pharmacology models to explore cancer biology and enable cancer drug discovery is required
  • Good scientific knowledge of Cancer Biology is desired.
  • Can independently conduct tumored mouse studies including model development, anti-tumor efficacy and PK/PD studies in conjunction with necropsy/tissue/blood collection is required.
  • Skilled and proficient at establishing subcutaneous xenograft tumor models is a requirement. Experience with orthotopic models is a plus.
  • Skilled and proficient at murine dosing via PO, IP, IV, SC routes required, intra-tumor and IM dosing is a plus
  • Proficiency in cell culture, passaging and harvesting cells is required. Prior experience with cell line engineering (transfection, lentivirus-mediated transduction) is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated experience for some of the following ex-vivo techniques is required: tumor dissociation, DNA/RNA/protein extraction, qPCR, ELISA (MSD), Western Blot, multi-color FACs.
  • Proficiency in utilizing software for data analysis and figure generation is required. Includes Graph Pad Prism, electronic notebooks, Microsoft Office etc.
  • Attention to detail with excellent organizational and record keeping skills is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with peers and management. The ideal candidate will be capable of assembling presentations and presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and key stakeholders.
  • Ability to mentor junior associates and colleagues on best practices in the laboratory would be highly valued.
  • The qualified candidate is a highly motivated, self-starter with the ability to be flexible in the case of a changing priorities.
