Summary: Responsible for supporting the development, design, implementation, communication, and administration of the organization's compensation and benefits related programs and policies. Researches and recommends programs that are in alignment with overall human resources and company strategic objectives, as well as legal requirements, through competitive analysis, market research, and benchmarking. Identify and implement tools and resources for program administration with a focus on developing, standardizing, and improving processes, procedures, and reporting capabilities.

Essential Functions:
  • Researches and analyzes plan designs and recommends employee benefits and compensation programs with a focus on optimizing employee understanding, acceptance, interests, costs, regulatory requirements, and competitive advantage
  • Provides leadership strategic planning support by collecting, analyzing, benchmarking, and summarizing employee benefit and compensation data and trends
  • Provides guidance and counsel to HR Business Partners. Managers, and employees on the requirements and provisions of benefit programs, leave programs and assist with resolution of problems
  • Monitor eligibility, limitations, and restrictions of benefit plan participation and ensures compliance with both plan provisions and government requirements
  • Primary contact with third-party vendors and consultants to ensure quality and efficiency of delivery of our benefit programs.
  • Manages, interprets and administers leave programs and policies (STD, LTD, FMLA) in accordance with the applicable federal and state employment laws. Ensures that the workers' compensation program is managed in accordance with applicable OSHA and workers' compensation laws
  • Oversees administration of COBRA compliance
  • Partners with the company recordkeepers, administers the 40l(k) and 409A Deferred Compensation programs
  • Develops and reviews job descriptions for both new and existing positions and determines position classification and appropriate salary range, STI, and LTI.
  • Main point of contact for Talent Acquisition and HRBPs to ensure the consistency and equity in pay practices for new hires and internal promotions/job changes.
  • Manages the annual merit increase cycle and bi-annual promotion review cycles.
  • Collaborate with HRIS on continuous improvement and implementation of technology to streamline and automate compensation and benefits processes and programs.
  • Provides M&A support to ensure benefit and compensation programs are properly integrated
  • Manages the tuition reimbursement process as well as reconciliation of third party billing and invoices
  • Performs other duties and special projects as assigned

Required Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree
  • 5+ years of experience in benefits and compensation program development and administration.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements (i.e., ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FMLA, IRS, ADA, Section 125 regulations, 5500, Health Care Reform, Workers Compensation, Medicare, Social Security, DOL, FLSA)
  • Clear, precise and effective verbal and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to deal with benefits/compensation matters in a confidential, objective and professional manner
  • Ability to handle sensitive information and exercise sound judgment. High degree of professionalism
  • Results driven with ability to operate independently and proactively
  • Proven ability to establish rapport and work across all levels of organization and cultivate relationships to include HR Business Partners, Legal and Finance
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, Excel (VLookUp, Pivot Tables, Formulas)
  • Ability to drive multiple projects simultaneously with regularly adjusting priorities
  • Proven analytic and business skills
  • Ability to perform mathematical calculations in computing rates, premiums and adjustments
  • Must be open to change and new information and ideas and adapt to same
  • Must encourage and foster cooperation and teamwork

Preferred Education, Experience, and Skills:
  • Accredited Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field with an emphasis in business or finance
  • Industry certifications (CCB, CBS, PHR, etc.)
  • Experience working with and benchmarking Life Sciences/Specialty Pharmaceutical Organizations
  • Experience with Success Factors, BenefitFocus and/or Ceridian Payroll
  • Knowledge in financial/business analysis techniques highly desirable


Willingness/Ability to travel up to 10% domestically. International travel may be required.
