Position Overview

Nektar Therapeutics has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Recruiter who will drive and manage the recruitment efforts for the company.

We are looking for a professional, take-charge individual to keep recruitment operations organized and maintain the integrity of the company's hiring processes to ensure a positive hiring experience. The Sr. Recruiter, while using a consultative approach with both the candidate and hiring manager, will drive the hiring of top talent for the company.

Responsibilities Include:
  • Working with managers, cross-functionally, to develop recruitment strategies, job postings, plan and timeline for open positions, while ensuring that company's recruitment policies and procedures are being followed.
  • The Sr. Recruiter will support the recruitment efforts of positions at all levels, including Director level and above. Will provide proactive communication throughout the process for both candidates and managers.
  • High visibility and interface with all levels of management and will be responsible for delivering "high touch" excellent customer service throughout the recruitment cycle.
  • Utilizes internal and external sources to develop candidate leads and stays current with industry market information. Utilizing creative sourcing techniques, identifies and pre-screens candidates to determine whether a candidate meets the minimum criteria for a position(s). Keep identified candidates engaged throughout the process and ensure that there are multiple candidates to consider.
  • Works closely with candidates and hiring managers to guide them through the interview and evaluation process, which includes preparing the interview team.
  • Works with managers and senior HR management to develop competitive compensation packages for candidates and drives negotiations and closing of employment offers.
  • Assists in the facilitation of start dates, background and references checks and employment processing, including visas.
  • Ensures candidate and requisition activities are chronicled appropriately in the ATS.
  • Works with external resources including retained and contingent recruitment firms, temporary agencies, and other recruitment vendors.
  • Will work closely with HR management and with HR Business Partners for the assigned client groups. Escalates issues appropriately.
  • Participates in analyzing trends and making recommendations to improve employment processes. Develops a network within the biotech, pharmaceutical, and high-tech industries creating a database of contacts and associations as a source for information. Maintain knowledge of market landscape, recruitment trends, compensation information, and industry news.
  • Represents Nektar at job fairs and industry meetings as needed.
  • May also be responsible for managing company programs such as: Immigration, Internship, and Relocation.
A Bachelors degree in Business Administration, Human Resources or related discipline is required. Professional certification such as SPHR, PHR or advanced degree is a plus. Equivalent experience may be accepted. A minimum of 8 years of directly related experience is required. Previous experience working in the pharmaceutical, biotechnology or medical device industry is preferred. Demonstrated ability to establish priorities, multi-task, and manage assignments quickly and professionally in a fast paced environment is required. Work is completed with minimal supervision, assignments are of the highest quality, and follow-through is outstanding. Must be experienced with internet sourcing tools and strategies. Knowledge of immigration is required. Must be able to work with a high attention to detail and have excellent oral and written communications skills. Demonstrated ability to work with confidential and sensitive information. Excellent organizational and problem solving skills are required. Experience with Talent Selection/Behavioral Interviewing or other related tools is required. Strong computer skills and experience with ATS applications is required. Must be able to demonstrate strong interpersonal and customer service skills and have the ability to build relationships and work as a team player fostering strong working relationships within all levels of the company, as well as with outside vendors and contacts.
