Job Details

Reporting To: Associate Director, Analytical R&D

Core Competencies
  • Demonstrated success conducting independent research in areas of analytical chemistry, nucleic acid therapeutics, or biophysics.
  • Ability to develop and execute robust scientific strategies to address specific business needs is required.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation) are essential.
  • Should have proficiency with analytical chromatography and/or mass spectrometry. Expertise with other relevant technologies may be considered.
  • Direct experience in the characterization of oligonucleotides or lipid nanoparticles is an advantage.
  • Experience in analytical method development, validation, and tech transfer is a plus.
  • Knowledge of bioanalytical method development, including analyte extractions from biological fluids and related analytical methodologies.
  • Basic understanding of GMP/GLP and familiarity with ICH and FDA Guidance is helpful.


Responsibilities
  • Conceive of and implement new technologies for physicochemical characterization and/or bioanalytical method development.
  • Serve as subject matter expert for assigned products or technologies.
  • Maintain assigned laboratory equipment in a clean and safe manner, including routine operation and calibration.
  • Perform routine analyses as needed to support department deliverables.
  • Ensure data integrity; including proper documentation of experimental methods, results, and conclusions in laboratory notebooks.
  • Author method SOPs, technical reports, and qualification, validation, and tech transfer protocols/reports.
  • Work in a team environment, regularly interacting with others by phone, email, and in person.
  • Show initiative in identifying technical or process improvement opportunities.
  • Follow safe laboratory practices according to corporate policies.


Education and/or Experience:
  • Ph.D. in Analytical Chemistry or related scientific discipline with 0-4 years' experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Exceptional BS/MS candidates with 6+ years' applicable experience may be considered.
  • Broad knowledge and experience in physicochemical characterization of RNA, lipids, or antibodies.
  • Excellent skills in data collection, data analysis, and accurate documentation in laboratory notebooks is required.
  • High level computer proficiency with the ability/interest to learn new software programs as required.
  • Flexibility work ethic to contribute in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Prior experience operating analytical instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, MS, or spectroscopic technologies.


Physical and Other Job Requirements:
  • Office/Lab environment. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use their hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, and telephone keypad or to write, as well as talk and hear. They are required to stand, walk or sit, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to focus.
  • This position splits its time between an office and laboratory environment. Lab work may include the use of centrifuges, microscopes, spectrometers and other laboratory tools. Will be required to wear personal protective equipment and comply with all safety regulations in the lab.
  • Software used will include most typical office applications such as word processing and spreadsheets and may include project management and analytical or scientific technology.
