The Research and Automation Technologies Group is currently seeking candidates for the position of Engineer. This talented, highly motivated individual will work as a hands-on individual contributor in multi-disciplinary teams that conceptualize, design and implement automated software and hardware solutions across Amgen's Research labs.

Position Responsibilities
Participation in user requirement interviews, project design discussions, and reviews
Design of parts and assemblies, followed by the development of technical drawings for part fabrication
Hands on fabrication by 3d printing, laser cutting, etc.
Engineering documentation and version control of all part/assembly/machine code documents, circuit/wiring/electrical diagrams, and source code
System component assembly, testing, and installation
Software development of custom device drivers and data management applications
System software configuration and scripting
End-user training
Collaboration with vendors and academia for beta-stage technologies

Basic Qualifications
Master's degree or Master's degree completed by February 2020
OR
Bachelor's degree and 2 years of engineering experience
OR
Associate's degree and 6 years of engineering experience
OR
High School Diploma / GED and 8 years of engineering experience

Preferred Qualifications
Master's or Bachelor's with 2+ years relevant experience working as part of a multi-disciplinary team in an engineering setting with a background in Mechanical Engineering or closely related discipline
Relevant experience in the design, prototyping and manufacture of electromechanical systems related to lab automation in drug discovery research and development
Experience with biotechnology research and development
Hands-on experience with lab automation
Experience with SolidWorks®, or similar solid modeling application and willingness to learn SolidWorks®
Experience with software development using Microsoft technologies (Visual Studio, .NET Framework, C#, XAML, Team Foundation Server)
Strong technical skills coupled with excellent communication skills
Eagerness and ability to work in team-based environment but capable of working as an independent contributor with minimal supervision
Strong understanding of machine shop work
