Job Summary:

Horizon acquired KRYSTEXXA, an orphan biologic for uncontrolled gout through acquisition in early 2016 and has seen exceptional growth in the rheumatology specialty. As a key part of the growth strategy for the brand, Horizon is expanding into nephrology where there are a significant number of uncontrolled gout patients with chronic kidney disease. This Director position will play a key role in the continued expansion of the brand and will help to set the marketing strategy and ensure implementation. This role will work closely other key specialty partners to ensure alignment across the brand.

Responsibilities:

  • Support the development of HCP marketing strategy for nephrology and/or rheumatology specialty segments and lead the execution of key strategies within the professional marketing team to reach both target and referral physician audiences including:
    Field-facing tools (digital and print), digital promotion, conference strategy, sales meetings, brand planning
  • Manage external partners (ad agency, meeting planners, market research, consultants) to ensure integration and consistency of strategies, message and tactics on time, within budget and scope and to drive optimal value for the brand
  • Work with internal market research partners to design, develop and lead research and uncover insights and incorporate into all promotional materials
  • Lead execution of branded and unbranded campaigns to challenge status quo treatment of uncontrolled gout patients. Work with medical marketing and medical affairs to ensure appropriate staging of scientific messaging to redefine the disease state
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of the disease states, competitive landscape and therapeutic management of the space
  • Leverage business insights and expert feedback to provide input into the development and review of brand strategy, tactical and financial plans
  • Gain feedback on and track marketing program effectiveness/ROI and continuously strive to optimize marketing programs
  • Ensure that marketing materials meet brand & regulatory guidelines

 


Qualifications and Skills Required:

 

 

  • 7+ years of experience in marketing/sales preferably in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry.
  • Bachelor's Degree required - Master's Degree in Business, Marketing preferred
  • Experience in Nephrology or Rheumatology a plus
  • Forward-thinking, ability to lead and influence multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail, the ability to take ownership of issues, to work independently with confidence, and to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and synthesize complex data to support decision-making and to develop strategic and actionable business plans
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, exercise judgment and discretion
  • Ability to work well with all levels of employees and demonstrate strong teaming and partnering skills

  • Requires approximately 25% travel, including some overnight and weekend commitments
