Summary:

The Oncology and Angiogenesis research group is seeking a highly motivated Research Associate to assist with various aspects of cancer research. The ideal candidate has extensive experience in xenograft and orthotopic tumor models. More specifically, experience with injections, tumor cell implantation, tissue harvest, drug administration via various routes (iv, ip, sc), minor surgeries and necropsy, and cell culture (maintainance as well as cell based assays) is required. Additional experience with PDX models, evidence of technical expertise with in vivo imaging modalities, such as micro-ultrasound and bioluminescence imaging, is a plus. The candidate should be able to independently execute experiments and have excellent verbal and written communication skills. The ability to work effectively in a team, follow verbal and written instructions, good organizational and interpersonal skills, basic computer skills are a must.

Responsibilities:

• Tail vein, sc, ip, im injections

• Tumor cell implantation, and monitoring of tumor growth and overall well-being of mice

• Administration of different reagents in tumor bearing animals

• Minor surgeries and necropsy

• Tissue harvest

• Tissue culture and basic-cell based assays

• Assisting with micro-ultrasound and other in vivo imaging techniques

• Data analysis and presentation

• Interaction in cross functional teams

• Meticulous record keeping

• Efficient time management

Requirements:
This position requires a minimum of a BS/MS degree with 2-5 years of experience working with in vivo tumor models. Additional experience desired includes:
- in vivo mouse experience
- experience with various mouse tumor models including solid PDX
- experience in tissue processing, sectioning and histology/IHC
- outstanding organizational skils
- good communication skills
- efficiently work in a team
- ability to independently follow verbal and written instructions
- good interpersonal skills
- basic skills with software packages
