SENIOR MANAGER, CORPORATE DEVELOPMENT

Position Summary:

The Senior Manager of Corporate Development will be responsible for supporting the Corporate Development Team in identifying, evaluating, and recommending external programs, assets, research platforms, and companies for potential partnership and/or acquisition by GBT. This role will have individual responsibility for assessing new therapeutic areas of interest, conducting market analyses, leading business development analytics, managing data sources, and synthesizing other data to support decision-making. This role will influence corporate strategy, have substantial visibility across the organization, and will have interactions with the senior leadership of GBT.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Support and lead preliminary assessments and cross-functional due diligence of external opportunities, including scientific literature reviews of novel targets/areas of biology, competitive landscape, unmet medical need, commercial potential
  • Conduct landscape analyses of disease areas of interest for potential attractiveness and fit with corporate strategy
  • Lead planning, execution and delivery of primary and secondary market research projects across different therapeutic areas in support of business development
  • Provide financial analytics (e.g. market modeling, revenue projections, operating models with P&L, cash flow statements and pro-forma balance sheet,) and strategic analyses (e.g. competitive landscape assessments, gap analyses, clinical data reviews) in support of acquisitions, external partnerships, collaborations, and licensing opportunities
  • Track and maintain deal flow list, BD opportunity tracker, and competitive intelligence data bases
  • Continuously update knowledge of industry pipeline and competition in disease areas of interest to GBT
  • Regularly network with and develop relationships with prospective partners while evaluating opportunities at medical and business development conferences

 


Qualifications:

 

 

 

  • BS in biology or chemistry; advanced degree in the life sciences strongly preferred (e.g., MS, MD, PhD)
  • 4 years of experience in biopharma business/corporate development, management consulting or venture capital. Individuals with 1 - 2 years of experience in similar roles will be considered for Manager level
  • Strong, analytical, quantitative and creative problem skills
  • Comfort with financial modeling, including P&L forecasts, cash flows, eNPVs, M&A modeling
  • Demonstrated experience in leading primary and secondary market research in the life sciences space
  • Knowledge of specialty and/or orphan disease areas; specialty hematology preferred
  • Knowledgeable about the scientific, clinical/regulatory aspects of drug discovery and development
  • Both detail-oriented and highly proficient in synthesizing at high level
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience with PowerPoint and Excel to present complex information in graphical form
