The Opportunity:
As a member of the Biology Dept and a key player in the Chemical Biology/Biochemistry team, you will:
- Apply diverse technologies in the laboratory to illuminate the functional roles and mechanisms of action of key proteins in cancer signaling pathways, in particular the RAS pathway.
- Characterize mechanisms of covalent and non-covalent enzyme inhibitors and small molecule modulators of protein interactions in cells and cell-free systems.
- Develop cutting edge tools or probes to better understand target biology and guide drug candidate discovery.
- Collaborate with colleagues in Discovery Technologies and Medicinal Chemistry to provide data-driven guidance to interdisciplinary teams to influence early stage program decisions.
Required Experience, Skills, and Education:
- Ph.D. in Biochemistry, Chemical Biology, Molecular Biology, or related discipline (Scientist I).
- 3+ years Postdoctoral or relevant industry experience (Scientist II) considered but not necessary.
- Strong track record of research productivity with high quality, impactful publications.
- Practical experience applying diverse biochemical, biophysical and/or chemical biology methods to quantitatively characterize enzyme mechanisms, cellular signaling pathways, or other complex biological processes.
- Prior expertise in cancer signal transduction pathways, including RAS-MAPK, would be an advantage.
- Skilled in quantitative data analysis, particularly nonlinear curve fitting and rigorous statistical validation of models.
- Rigorous, quantitative, and detail-oriented experimentalist with a desire to continue in a laboratory-focused role.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize options, anticipate challenges, and execute on goals as a member of an interdisciplinary team is extremely important.
- Thrives in a collaborative team setting and is driven by a desire to deploy innovative approaches and technologies in a high energy, small company environment.
