Job Summary

Amgen is seeking a Finance Manager who will play a key role in the Global Commercial Operations (GCO) Consolidation group in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). This position supports the US Market. This role will be based in Thousand Oaks, CA and is a highly visible role with Leadership. As a member of this fast-pace, complex and dynamic region, this individual will be a key point of contact for the affiliates and liaison for various Corporate functions. The individual will act as a business partner, supporting them in all budgeting processes, planning and analysis. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt, be agile and action orientated (Look beyond KPIs; Obtain fast, actionable feedback; Drive change and deliver value to key stakeholders).

Consolidation and Reporting: Primary contributor in the planning and coordination of the annual budget, quarterly forecasts, Quarterly Business Reviews and the long-range plan. Prepare various management reports on financial performance and be able to explain key variance drivers and insights across multiple markets. Actively support the Year-End and Quarter-End end close (accruals, G/L classification, reconciliations, etc.).

Financial modeling and analysis: Build driver-based financial models to guide decision-making. Articulate and translate financial analysis and insights (sales and opex) into meaningful and actionable business communications. Synthesize and communicate business performance and variance analysis for multiple markets and Amgen products.

Business Partnering: Build strong relationships across functions within the company, work closely with various functions (Marketing, cDNA, IR). Support financial reporting and partner with functional leads as part of the overall planning process and provide key financial support and analysis on an ad-hoc basis. Cross-functional interaction with various groups in Finance, Operations, R&D, and Commercial. Drive process improvements across areas of responsibility and efficiencies.

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree AND 2 years of Finance experience

OR

Bachelor's degree AND 4 years of Finance experience

OR

Associate's degree AND 10 years of Finance experience

OR

High school diploma / GED AND 12 years of Finance experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • 5+ years of corporate level experience with 3+ years of progressive finance / accounting experience / financial planning experience
  • Ability to educate, communicate and provide financial insights to non-finance individuals
  • Adaptable and able to work in a complex matrix environment
  • Knowledge of key reporting systems (such as SAP, MS Office, Tableau and Hyperion)
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills including familiarity with finance and accounting terms
  • Proven ability to work effectively in in ambiguous situations and team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
  • Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills; ability to interact and influence personnel across functions and levels, including Management
  • Ability to think strategically; Detail oriented; strong business analytical skills
  • MBA and/or CPA
  • Pharmaceutical/Biotech experience (highly preferred)
