The Portfolio Analytics Senior Manager, based out of our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA, will report into the Executive Director of Commercialization, Program & Portfolio Management.

The Portfolio Analytics Senior Manager's primary role will be to guide Amgen's Product Teams through development of strategic alternatives, balancing risk/opportunity and making trade-off decisions, and to contribute to the assessment, optimization and prioritization of the overall portfolio on a periodic basis to impact trade-off decisions

The Portfolio Analytics Senior Manager is specifically responsible for:

  • Ensures consistency across pipeline / project valuation inputs that are aligned across functions
  • Integrates and communicates the value, cost, and risk implications of product development alternatives and recommendations
  • Supports development of strategy by conducting internal pipeline assessments, forecasting portfolio productivity and throughput, and identifying potential pipeline gaps
  • Supports portfolio prioritization process by leveraging relevant measures of cost, risk, and value
  • Drives improvements and enhance consistency in Amgen's product valuation methods, policies, and tools, integrating more decision analysis methods and creative analytical approaches
  • Supports evolution of Amgen's portfolio management framework through effective process design, problem solving, and change management efforts


Basic Qualifications:

Doctorate degree and 2 years of clinical development and/or regulatory issues and/or market dynamics experience within the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry

OR

Master's degree and 4 years of clinical development and/or regulatory issues and/or market dynamics experience within the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry

OR

Bachelor's degree and 6 years of clinical development and/or regulatory issues and/or market dynamics experience within the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of clinical development and/or regulatory issues and/or market dynamics experience within the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of clinical development and/or regulatory issues and/or market dynamics experience within the pharmaceutical and/or biotech industry

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced degree in business
  • 5+ years in biotech / pharma or life sciences management doing project portfolio management, strategic planning, resource management, decision sciences, and / or financial planning
  • Proficient in decision analysis and probabilistic modeling methods
  • Ability to modulate communications based on target audience
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrates high creativity; is largely self-directed, able to work with some supervision, and function effectively on multidisciplinary teams, both as participant and leader
  • Strong executive presence with senior leaders including the ability to communicate effectively on a prepared and ad-hoc basis
  • Develops strong working relationships with key stakeholders
  • Action and results-oriented individual
  • Demonstrates excellent interpersonal communication skills, self-confidence, decisiveness
  • Advocates strategic positions in the face of uncertainty
  • Comfortable with ambiguous work assignments and experience managing change in a complex, matrix organization
  • Team oriented player with strong work ethic
