Job Summary:

Senior Director of Medical Intelligence - Solid Tumors will lead collection of relevant information supporting development of mid- to long-term solid tumor medical strategies and activities for the franchise and influencing GPT and GBT strategic decisions (i.e. to support mid- to long-term franchise strategy, product-specific launch strategy, LCM data generation strategy and MSL (medical science liaison) communication strategy). The responsibilities include identifying early warnings and indicators of new therapeutic area trends, future SOC change, evaluating emerging scientific information and giving guidance and direction by discerning potential new opportunities for the solid tumor franchise.

Responsibilities:

Information collection, analysis and synthesis.
  • Develop the framework or tool to collect scientific information from existing internal (including insights MSLs gain) and external sources as well as identifying new data sources. Work with competitive intelligence experts in various functions/regions in the company or third-party agencies. Collect and filter data from diversified sources.
  • Lead information research or technical projects related to medical affairs that have broad, global impact (e.g. developing infrastructure or platform that supports the operation of medical intelligence.)
  • Analyze, interpret and synthesize new trends in the given therapeutic area including biomarker/-omics, competitors' pipeline and other scientific information.
  • Influence decisions by initiating and leading discussions with MA teams and with executive-level leadership by providing guidance/direction from analytical outputs and by providing alternative scenarios. Bring out-of-the-box thinking to the team to advance the company's analytical capabilities forward.

Key deliverables.
  • Strategic report that will elaborate on the current and anticipated competitive landscape, incorporate DS compounds in the mix, highlight the trends in treatment management as well as identify gaps that will inform strategic decisions
  • Guidance documents, reports and presentations to relevant internal stakeholders (e.g. GMAT, GPT, GMA leadership, etc.) to support defining and adjusting medical strategies and activities.
  • Guidance and direction to support critical strategic deliverables: mid- to long-term franchise strategy, product-specific launch strategy, LCM data generation strategy and MSL communication strategy.
  • Regular reports describing new trends and potential opportunities for solid tumor franchise.

Ability to travel up to 15% of the time

Qualifications
Successful candidates will be able to meet the qualifications below with or without a reasonable accommodation.

Education/Experience:
  • PhD or equivalent in medical sciences or MD
  • Strong expertise in oncology (academic experience and/or pharmaceutical in different indications.
  • 10+ years in oncology in strategic roles either in academia or in pharma. Experience within one or more of the following: a pharmaceutical/biotech company; a pharma/biotech/healthcare CI agency.
  • Experience in sourcing, analyzing and interpreting solid tumor unmet needs, competitor pipeline and scientific information.
  • Knowledge of the drug discovery, development and medical affairs and drug commercialization process.
  • Excellent strategic and analytical skill including critical thinking and fact-based decision-making
  • Able to analyze complex scientific data, very good understanding of the scientific trends in oncology.
  • Strong expertise in oncology
  • A deep understanding of molecular mechanism, disease and other pharmaceutical technologies.
  • Extensive multi-disciplinary work experience in or with, as a consultant, the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry (e.g. R&D, marketing, market research, strategic planning, business development, finance, etc.) in oncology
  • Excellent Leadership skills including cross-functional leadership, project management and influencing without authority at a senior level
  • Strong interpersonal skills - ability to succinctly communicate complex issues simply
