Systems Engineer - Drug Discovery Research

As part of a multi-year initiative to unlock the potential of data generated from Amgen's past and current research projects, we are seeking a scientific computing and research informatics associate to join our multidisciplinary research team of computational and experimental scientists. In this role, the successful candidate will be work with a broad team of scientists, helping to manage, develop and deploy data science and molecular modeling solutions. Key responsibilities include:

• Managing scientific computing applications
• Collaborating with others to develop and deploy modeling and informatics solutions
• Proactively identify gaps, bottlenecks and recommend solutions

Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree
OR
Bachelor's degree and 2 years related programming experience

OR
Associate's degree and 6 years related programming experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 8 years related programming experience

Preferred Qualifications:

• BS or MS in computer science, engineering or any computational sciences (computational chemistry, bio/cheminformatics or related fields)
• Experience in scientific programming
• Experience in scientific software management and deployment
• Proficient with Linux and one or more programming tools Python, R, C, Pipeline Pilot, SQL, etc.
• Knowledge of cloud computing, AWS, Docker, etc.
• Knowledge of small molecule structures, cheminformatics, and molecular modeling
• Strong communication skills
• Enthusiasm for working in an interdisciplinary team environment
