Research Associate, Immunohistochemistry And Analytical Histology

Unity Biotechnology is a nascent integrated biopharmaceutical company discovering and developing medicines to treat chronic diseases associated with aging. We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area and are seeking to hire a research associate for a position in our Discovery Technologies group. This group plays a critical functional role supporting programs to discover and develop innovative drugs for an emerging and exciting biology. A successful candidate will have strong experience in digital quantitative analysis of histological images, supported by a solid background in histological technique and theory.

Responsibilities:

• Perform histological stains, IHC and IF on mouse and human tissue utilizing both manual and automated platforms
• Slide imaging and fluorescence microscopy
• Histological quantification and analysis
• Image analysis pipeline generation and data QC
• Database organization and oversight

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's or associate's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science and at least 2 years relevant work experience
• Experience processing, embedding, and sectioning FFPE tissues for IHC or ISH analysis
• At least two years of experience performing immunohistochemistry by manual or automated methods on paraffin-embedded tissue
• Experience with IHC autostainers (e.g. Roche Ventana, Leica Bond platforms)
• Familiarity with multicolor IF assays is preferred
• Proficiency with histological image analysis and statistical analysis, experience with image quantification tools such as Aperio or Visiopharm desired
• Accurate documentation skills and the ability to comply with regulatory requirements
• Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
