Unity Biotechnology is a nascent integrated biopharmaceutical company discovering and developing medicines to treat chronic diseases associated with aging. We are located in the San Francisco Bay Area and are seeking to hire a research associate for a position in our Discovery Technologies group. This group plays a critical functional role supporting programs to discover and develop innovative drugs for an emerging and exciting biology. A successful candidate will have strong experience in digital quantitative analysis of histological images, supported by a solid background in histological technique and theory.

Responsibilities:
- Perform histological stains, IHC and IF on mouse and human tissue utilizing both manual and automated platforms
- Slide imaging and fluorescence microscopy
- Histological quantification and analysis
- Image analysis pipeline generation and data QC
- Database organization and oversight
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's or associate's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory, chemical, physical or biological science and at least 2 years relevant work experience
- Experience processing, embedding, and sectioning FFPE tissues for IHC or ISH analysis
- At least two years of experience performing immunohistochemistry by manual or automated methods on paraffin-embedded tissue
- Experience with IHC autostainers (e.g. Roche Ventana, Leica Bond platforms)
- Familiarity with multicolor IF assays is preferred
- Proficiency with histological image analysis and statistical analysis, experience with image quantification tools such as Aperio or Visiopharm desired
- Accurate documentation skills and the ability to comply with regulatory requirements
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
