Position Summary:

The National Training Manager is responsible for managing the sales training function within Horizon's Ophthalmology Business Unit. This position is responsible for creating and delivering sales training curriculum to Ophthalmology field personnel. The National Training Manager will work closely to collaborate on various projects with several cross-functional teams including marketing, medical affairs, market access, patient services, site of care, legal, regulatory, compliance, market access, and other internal home office colleagues. Specific responsibilities will include:

Responsibilities:
  • Identify training and development needs for the Ophthalmology Business Unit, through routine field travel and evaluation with Specialty Account Managers.
  • Deliver instructor led and/or online training programs supporting product, disease state, selling skills, managed care, territory management, reimbursement, and regulatory/compliance.
  • Lead and execute the on-boarding process and Initial Sales Training (IST) for new field personnel to the Ophthalmology Business Unit.
  • Manage the evaluation process that measures training effectiveness.
  • Develop and update training content as well as agendas for new hire training, follow-up training, and periodic POA/National Sales Meetings.
  • Collaborate with internal departments such as sales, marketing, sales operations, regulatory, medical affairs, market access, patient services, site of care, and legal to design, build and deliver training programs.
  • Partner with marketing colleagues to assist in creation and launch of new materials/resources for field personnel.
  • Manage and ensure required training materials/content are successfully processed through the Promotional Review Committee.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as needed.


Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Bachelor's Degree required.
  • Minimum 3 years of experience working in the pharmaceutical industry required.
  • Previous experience in Ophthalmology or a rare specialty disease category preferred.
  • Sales training experience (headquarter or field-based) preferred.
  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple demands with a high level of initiative and independence required.
  • Ability and willingness to conduct field travel, as well as to travel to sales meetings, etc. including some overnight and weekend commitments (>25%) required.
  • Experience in content development and instructional design a plus.
  • Experience working with learning management systems (LMS) preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.
  • Professional, proactive demeanor.
