Job Details
The Scientific and Cloud Computing group supports a variety of technical computing workloads serving a community of scientists focusing on pharmaceutical R&D. This position offers the opportunity to work in a cross functional team of informatics scientists and IT professionals in building the next generation of technical and HPC computing resources, processes and infrastructure.
We are looking for an exceptional candidate to conceive, design, engineer, and implement data, software, and technology solutions for scientific computing applications. This person will investigate, identify, and implement state-of-the-art technology platforms in the area of Linux system administration for workstations and HPC environments, and critically evaluate relevant technological advances and integrate this knowledge into new business technology solutions.
- Assist in the development and administration of HPC compute/storage/networking infrastructure to support project work in a growing and evolving research setting.
- Install and maintain existing custom, open-source, and licensed software in a Linux HPC environment, composing scripts and high-throughput data management workflows.
- Manage Linux operating system on HPC environments and physical workstations.
- Manage data storage systems and backups
- Work with AbbVie System Administrators and Architects to integrate the R&D activities with other internal and external resources.
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent education and typically 12 years of experience, Master's Degree or equivalent education and typically 10 years of experience. Work experience in the pharmaceutical industry preferred.
- Possess thorough theoretical and practical understanding of own discipline.
- Proven implementation of creative technology solutions that advanced the business.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills .
