Sr Associate Scientist - Inflammation and Oncology Research

We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Associate Scientist to join the Inflammation and Oncology Research Therapeutic Area at Amgen in South San Francisco (ASF). You will drive the discovery and validation of novel targets in autoimmune disease and cancer for the development of innovative medicines.

In this role you will be an integral member of the research team, collaborate with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and work closely with teams in other functional areas including Therapeutic Discovery, Medical Sciences and Computational Biology.

In this position, you are expected to make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the research goals and milestones of the Inflammation therapeutic area. Specific responsibilities include planning and performing laboratory experiments, preparing and analyzing biological samples, analyzing data and communicating results.

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate Degree OR Doctorate Degree completed by February 2020

OR
Master's degree and 3 years of scientific experience

OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Post-graduate training in immunology with expertise in one or more of the following areas: 1. Molecular immunology (with hands on experience of cloning and CRISPR on primary human and/or mouse lymphocytes or myeloid cells), 2. functional assay using primary cells, 3. multi-color flow cytometry, 4. isolation and culture of primary immune cells and bioinformatics

Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking, creativity and scientific research achievement in the areas of immunology or immuno-oncology as demonstrated by high impact publications and/or significant contributions to therapeutic programs

Strong verbal and written communication skills. Ability to collaborate and troubleshoot to solve problems
