Summary:
The Executive Director R&D and Clinical Sourcing is a leadership position intended to oversee and direct the Strategic Sourcing & Procurement (SS&P) activities across Research and Global Development. The position will be responsible to lead the overall category strategy and the supplier management program in a manner that ensures effective ongoing support of Regeneron's R&D, Clinical, and business needs. In collaboration with Global Clinical Operations, they will provide strategic management and leadership for clinical trial outsourcing. This includes definition and assessment of outsourcing models/strategies, program/study allocation to CROs/vendors, contracting/budget negotiations, business related issue resolution and governance for all outsourced trials.
The Executive Director provides business model guidance and strategy in designing deal structures which enable Regeneron to secure optimal delivery of clinical trials through sound performance based contractual frameworks. They will lead the development, retention, and recruiting of SS&P talent to support the company's clinical research activities.

Scope: Global

Responsibilities:

• Facilitate the allocation by senior management of pre-clinical and clinical development programs to CROs based on strategic fit, CRO capabilities/capacity, financial trial volume etc.

• Oversee the development and execution of sourcing strategies to support the evolving needs of the Research organization, particularly around laboratory and outside services.

• Interact with the legal and financial department and others as needed, to ensure cross-departmental alignment with respect to processes for contract development, execution, and management.

• Develop close, respectful relationships with key Supplier executives that are demanding yet fair, proactively manage supplier performance to drive continuous improvements.

• Identify and manage process gaps within outsourcing to develop best practices and engage in continuous improvement and innovation.

• Interact with senior management/Program Directors/Medical Directors/Theraputic Area Project Managers and Clinical Trial Managers/Operations staff to ensure appropriate service providers are identified and managed efficiently to acheive company research & development activities and deliver sponsored clinical studies.

• Oversee a system and process is in place to track and manage contract metrics/documentation across all Clinical & Research sourcing activities.

• Provide expert insight and knowledge regarding rates, unit costs, and costing structures to enable optimal negotiations.

• Ensure strategic goals and objectives are formalized and effectively communicated to staff.

• Provide leadership and guidance to staff to ensure they operate as true business partners to company Programs and Clinical Study Teams.

• Promote a customer oriented culture in a collaborative environment.

• Ensure timely and optimal allocation of staff to all projects in accordance with agreed upon priorites

• Coach and ensure direct reports receive appropriate knowledge and skill development and growth opportunities.

• Liaise and benchmark with industry peers and across other industries to establish and update best practices for sourcing, contracting, continuous improvement, and cost efficiencies.

• Inspire and motivate the Research & Global Development SS&P team by promoting a healthy, productive, & engaging work environment

Requirements:
Education

• Bachelor's plus 20 years of relevant experience within procurement.

• Or Master's plus 15 years of relevant experience within procurement.
Experience

• Pharma/Biotech experience required

• Clinical Operations leadership also required.

• Requires experience managing Director level professionals

• Proven track record developing category and sourcing strategies to meet company goals

• Experience formulating strategy and vision regarding issues that have company-wide impact
