Summary: Supports the Process Sciences Department using small scale laboratory experiments, as well as analysis, troubleshooting, and investigation of manufacturing bioprocesses.

Level to be determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


• Performs technical investigations and creates associated reports.

• Develops and writes technical documents, including protocol, report, and memo.

• Conducts scaled-down downstream purifications for investigational support

• Conduct microbial related small-scale experiments to support process related microbial investigation

• Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for manufacturing downstream operations, data analysis and manufacturing support activities

• Assists in the analysis of samples generated from lab scale studies.

• Tabulates results and provide analysis.

• Maintains lab supplies and equipment.

• Produces and maintains accurate records.

• Participate in new technology initiative efforts and continuous improvement projects

• Responsible for leading, coaching, and developing direct reports

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Lab skills in protein separation, filtration and purification

• Microbiology related lab skills and experience

• Scale-down model development

• Protein formulation and stability

• Design of experiment, and advanced statistical analysis

• Process statistics and modeling

• cGMP operations

• Word processing, spreadsheet, database management, graphing, and advanced presentation

• Project management, interpersonal, cross-cultural, communication, negotiation and problem-solving skills

Education and Experience:

• Requires BS/BA in Chemical Engineering, Microbiology, Biochemistry or a related field with 0-5 years of experience; may consider another discipline with added relevant experience. cGMP experience is desirable.
