Position Overview:

Molecular Templates is seeking an experienced and highly-motivated professional to be an integral part of the Company's R&D team. The Lab Supervisor will be responsible for general lab upkeep and serve as a cross-functional point of contact for MTEM service departments (Purchasing, Supply Chain, Facilities). This position will collaborate with the MTEM service departments to streamline lab purchases/ ordering (Purchasing), maintain and improve existing inventory systems (Supply Chain), and submission and completion of maintenance work order requests (Facilities). This position will serve as the on-site R&D Safety Delegate and serve on the MTEM Safety Committee. Additional responsibilities include the management of Laboratory Technicians providing a support role to basic R&D needs, including but not limited to laboratory housekeeping, media and solution preparation. This requires excellent technical skills and abilities, analytical and problem solving skills, organizational and time-management skills, verbal and written communication skills, ability to apply attention to detail, along with ability to operation independently.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

• Serve as a cross-functional point of contact with Operations teams to drive R&D needs
• Collect and submit purchase requests for R&D Departments
• Manage maintenance of service contracts and warranties with vendors
• Monitor and maintain point of use supply inventories and asset control logs
• Coordinate maintenance and repairs of R&D equipment
• Serve as R&D Safety Delegate and representative on MTEM Safety Committee
• Ensure that appropriate safety practices are implemented and maintained in the R&D Labs
• Maintain OSHA compliance and enforce MTEM Safety Policies in the R&D Lab
• Manage Laboratory Technicians in a general R&D support role
• Coordinates daily consumable supply stocking and ordering
• Coordinate new employee onboarding in R&D
• Trains new employees in protocols and general use and function of lab equipment and instrumentation
• Special projects, as needed

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of relevant industry experience
• Minimum of two (2) year of experience supervising direct reports
• Previous experience in an EHS, Laboratory Safety Officer or committee role, preferred
• Experience in laboratory facilities maintenance oversight and working with vendors, required
• Experience in industry, preferred
• Working knowledge of lab safety procedures, required
• Excellent cross-functional communication skills, required
• Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills; ability to manage multiple tasks with a high degree of professionalism
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, collaborative team environment
• Ability to lift 30 lbs. and must be able to stand, crouch, sit, bend, or stretch for extended periods of time.

Reporting Structure:

This position has supervisory responsibilities. This position reports to the Director, Core Laboratories, R&D.
