Summary: Supports the Process Sciences Department through small-scale laboratory experiments and raw material studies related to production processes for biopharmaceuticals.

Level to be determined based on qualifications relevant to the role.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


• Development and execution of cell culture studies using aseptic technique in shake flasks and bench-scale bioreactors.

• Ensure that experiments are planned and coordinated cross-functionally, as well as executed effectively.

• Support the execution of an effective raw material use testing and control plan.

• Maintain lab supplies and equipment.

• Develop and write protocols for small-scale studies.

• Generate, manage, analyze, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner.

• Tabulate results and write summary reports for process/raw material evaluations.

• Present results at group and possibly at interdepartmental meetings.

• The position requires occasional work on weekends.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Ability to work independently and as a group on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Effective time management skills.

• Operation of small-scale bioreactor systems.

• Mammalian cell culture and understanding of cellular metabolism.

• Interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.

• Statistical design and analysis software.

Education and Experience:

• Requires BS/BA in life sciences/engineering or related field; Biomedical engineering, Chemical Engineering or Chemistry preferred. May consider another degree discipline with relevant experience; cGMP experience is preferred.

• Previous experience with cGMP and CHO cell culture is preferred.
