Job Details

As a member of the FIT (Financial Insights & Technology) team within Corporate Finance, this position will help provide financial, analytical and decision support to the Finance organization. This position will work closely with the Corporate & Functional Finance teams to help drive standardized reporting, as well as to help develop and deliver new reporting solutions, with an aim to provide our finance colleagues with improved insights, analytics, and transparency.

The Finance Associate will report to the Sr. Manager on the FIT team and will work out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. At Amgen, our mission is simple: to serve patients. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.

The FIT team was created to: (1) maintain and build upon the work/improvements enabled by the Delivering Financial Insights (DFI) initiative, (2) implement standardized reporting capabilities, (3) implement and maintain policies, processes and systems needed to drive an efficient and effective reporting environment and (4) explore new ways to evolve reporting, in the spirit of continuous improvement, to improve financial insights across the global finance organization.

This role will help to support a wide variety of analytical and financial activities across the Finance organization, which may include AFP/FTO programs, external spend analyses, business case development, and trend and opportunity analyses, and launches of new reporting solutions (i.e. tableau and others).

The position offers a great opportunity to gain insight into the financial profile of the entire organization and strategies across all of Amgen's business functions. This role will offer many opportunities for cross-functional engagements, as well as exposure to the global finance organization. The position is best suited for someone who is excited about improving the way we do finance at Amgen.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree
OR
Associate's degree and 4 years of Finance experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 6 years of Finance experience

Job Skills & Experience

Analytical & Technical Experience
  • MBA or CPA Preferred
  • Knowledge and experience in managing large and complex data sets
  • Comfort working with financial statements (U.S. GAAP)
  • Able to develop and think critically about approaches to solving large, complex quantitative problems
  • Able to be hypothesis-driven and gather necessary pieces of data to prove/disprove hypotheses
  • Is creative, tenacious, and resourceful in problem-solving. Is able to offer multiple approaches and appropriately execute the right level of detail and granularity for the problem/audience at hand
  • Able to draw strategic insight from analyses and effectively summarize and present insights based on the needs of the audience
  • Highly proficient with Excel and MS Office Suite, with demonstrated skill in automating and scaling up analyses across large data sets. Experience with Hyperion / Business Objects preferred
  • Experience with Tableau preferred
  • Experience with Alteryx or similar ETL applications preferred
  • Experience with SQL preferred
  • Ability to see beyond the detail to see the 'big picture', especially as it relates to providing useful solutions for our finance colleagues
