Job Summary

Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate who will play a key role in the corporate functions group in Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A). This team supports the management of operating expenses (OPEX) for Amgen's corporate functions (G&A). This role will be based in Thousand Oaks and report to the Senior Manager of Finance in charge of G&A OPEX Consolidation.

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join the team who will support the corporate functions during financial planning processes such as annual budget, quarterly forecasts and the long-range plan. In addition to the planning processes, this individual will support the quarter end close processes including analyses to help prepare for earnings calls. The role will also assist with G&A area OPEX consolidation activities as well as prepare various management reports on financial performance and be able to explain key variance drivers and insights. This role will provide key financial support and analysis on an ad hoc basis to help drive and improve business performance as well.

Responsibilities include:
  • Planning within the Financial Planning and Reporting system
  • Data analysis to support business performance and variance analysis
  • Quarter end close process support
  • Track financials and prepare periodic reports
  • Interact with various groups within Finance and the G&A organization
  • Provide support in developing executive communications
  • Provide project management support as necessary
  • Perform ad hoc analysis and support special projects


Basic Qualifications

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree AND 2 years of Finance or Accounting experience

OR

Associates degree AND 6 years Finance or Accounting experience

OR

High School diploma/GED AND 8 years Finance or Accounting experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree
  • 2+ years relevant experience in Finance/Accounting functions requiring business/financial analysis
  • Financial, statistical or mathematical modeling experience
  • Advanced Excel / PowerPoint skills
  • Knowledge of Oracle Hyperion a plus
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills including familiarity with finance and accounting terms
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to communicate and collaborate cross-functionally in an organization
  • Detailed oriented and highly motivated
  • Proven ability to work effectively in in ambiguous situations and team environment
  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently under time
