Process Development Engineer - Cell Culture

Summary:
The Cell Culture and Media Development group within Preclinical Manufacturing and Process Development is looking for a motivated person to develop production processes of monoclonal antibodies in a non-GMP process development laboratory. Job focus includes top tier antibody candidate screening, cell line selection experiments, and process optimization and robustness in support of clinical or commercial manufacturing production. This person will use subject matter expertise to design, lead, and react to experiments/projects and demonstrate the ability to prioritize tasks. May lead a team and delegate tasks.

Responsibilities:

• Execute cell culture studies using aseptic technique in shaker flasks, single-use bioreactors, and glass bench scale bioreactors

• Generate, manage, analyze, and maintain critical data in a highly organized manner

• Author/review development reports, process transmittals, and manufacturing records

• Coordinate and interface with colleagues from other groups involved in the research process, including cell line development, bioreactor scale-up, purification, and manufacturing.

• Active involvement in technology transfer via written process transmittals, and by providing troubleshooting, process understanding, and on-site support to manufacturing production campaigns in Albany, NY

• The position requires occasional travel and work on weekends

• May lead a team and provide performance management and development
Requirements:

• Independently troubleshoots and operates equipment and, if relevant data or knowledge management systems, independently

• Consistently and independently incorporates scientific literature and technical documentation to ongoing development

• Begins to mentor directly or indirectly by leading, guiding, and assisting peers, co-op students, interns, or direct reports

• Contributes to lab equipment maintenance and safety to help create a safe, effective and efficient working environment

• Anticipates and recognizes potential problems with laboratory supplies/equipment and takes action to prevent and solve problems

• Keep up with SOP training and/or compliance responsibilities

Knowledge/experience with the following equipment and software preferred:

• Nova BioProfile FLEX

• Sartorius AMBR and Biostat DCU bioreactor systems

• Applikon benchtop bioreactors

• GE WAVE bioreactors

• Biosafety cabinets, incubators, autoclaves

• OSI PI Historian, SAS JMP
