Program Summary:

The Horizon Internship Program offers aspiring professionals an opportunity to build a strong foundation of business acumen, technical skills, and knowledge about the pharmaceutical industry. We are committed to providing program participants with experience-based learning, multidimensional assignments, targeted training, and continual coaching and development.

Responsibilities:
  • This role will provide support for building key infrastructure and processes as well as project execution for the R&D portfolio management group.
  • Responsible to support and lead key initiatives based on background, skill set and interest. Project examples may include:
    • Industry Benchmarks - research industry benchmarks for key development inputs and align with HZNP cross-functional stakeholders on the HZNP benchmarks for R&D development and Due Diligence Business case approaches.
    • R&D Portfolio Dashboard - confirm the metrics and information to track, develop a monthly dashboard for R&D Portfolio Management.
    • R&D Business Development Process - work with Business Development and R&D to outline a more effective due diligence process.
    • Key Metrics and R&D Portfolio Database - establish and track key performance indicators/ metrics of the portfolio, map stakeholders and data feeds, and develop systematic/ automated database updates.
  • May also provide ad hoc support based on priority needs of the team which could include but is not limited to:
    • Support creation of consolidated portfolio plan, strategy and recommendations regarding overall development program.
    • Participate in collection of project information and other data collection, establish harmonized/standardized reporting and tracking tools, manage shared site(s) for information dissemination.
    • Support R&D due diligence for development targets.
    • Help establish a portfolio planning and review process aligned to Business Unit needs and corporate planning cycles.


Qualifications and Skills Required:
  • Currently working towards a MBA in related field.
  • Consulting experience preferred.
  • Program/project management and reporting experience, including proficiency and strong experience with excel, MS project and power point.
  • Background in the assessment of processes and practices for improvement opportunities
  • Proven capability for complex analytic analysis.
  • Capability to develop frameworks, approaches and business cases to provide strategic direction, analysis and structure for evaluation of R&D strategic initiatives.
  • Be able to work cross functionally across all areas in the organization and with all levels of management and staff.
  • Professional demeanor.
  • Self-starter attitude.
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
