  • Assist the pharmacist with practice of pharmacy in accordance with federal, state and local regulations, HIPAA guidelines, corporate and departmental policies and procedures by accurately interpreting healthcare provider's prescription orders and entering this information into the core pharmacy system in a timely fashion.
  • Enter patient demographic information, physician information and prescription information into the core pharmacy system, notifying the physician of any incomplete or incorrect prescription information and effectively performing the physician outreach process (within the legal limits of pharmacy technician authority).
  • Respond to questions from and interact professionally with other healthcare professionals working in the pharmacy to assure accurate provision of services to the patient.
  • Assist pharmacists and technicians in the picking, packing and shipping of orders. Disinfect and clean returned medical devices. Processes medical device returns and conducts functional testing on devices as appropriate.
  • Leads should be Subject Matter Experts in all Pharmacy Operations functional areas and knowledgeable of all other Pharmacy Solutions functional areas as well. They should perform quarterly review of policies and procedures to ensure compliance and performing updates or creating new documents if required.
  • Subject matter expert in Inventory Management to include ordering, receiving, maintenance, destruction, inventory adjustments and is capable of independently managing inventory as deemed appropriate by Pharmacy Operations Management.
  • Identifies and recommends process/system improvements that increase efficiency and productivity of Pharmacy Operations functional areas and communication with Pharmacy Operations Supervisors.
  • Identify and collaborate with all necessary personnel to determine objectives; organize, schedule and perform testing as business requires; and send out updates to necessary parties via email, presentations etc. to ensure new releases, processes, or enhancements are implemented into the core pharmacy system and successfully communicated to all impacted parties.
  • Maintain current licensure and CE requirements as necessary. Promote the AbbVie Way and influence positive culture.
  • Additional responsibilities may be added as deemed necessary for the business by Pharmacy Solutions Management.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required. College or a 2-year Associate Degree is preferred.
  • Individuals must meet applicable Pharmacy Technician Licensure and Certification requirements no later than the first day of employment.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years' experience within a healthcare provider, PBM, Specialty Pharmacy or Retail/Mail Order Pharmacy setting, familiarity with medical record handling/documentation, strong core insurance (Medical and Pharmacy Benefit) knowledge, high quality customer service, knowledge of online verification systems, or similar experience preferred.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications.
  • Strong attention to detail, ability to multi-task and ability to make independent, high-quality decisions and operate under general supervision.
  • Strong computer skills required including quick and accurate data entry; including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word or Excel software applications.
  • Completes individual tasks, collaborative and cross-functional acumen, and ability to effectively manage time by adhering to deadlines required.
  • Flexible work schedule, ability to work between the hours of 7am to 7pm.
