Summary: Plans, designs, and oversees design and construction projects. Projects include renovation and repurposing of existing space and may include complete design and construction of new areas. Applies specialized knowledge in a variety of situations within Facilities Engineering.

Essential Duties, Skills and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Contributes to design and construction projects

• Supports preliminary surveys and aides in the preparation of schematic, preliminary, and work drawings for the construction and maintenance of new or remodeled facilities

• Estimates cost of projects, establishes contracts and specifications for labor materials, and equipment for construction projects, and secures bids from contractors with the help of design consultants

• Consults with architects, engineers, owners, and contractors regarding preliminary layout, construction procedures, and code requirements that apply to building projects

• Manages cost, schedule, and scope of facilities related projects including renovations, new equipment installs, and new construction

• Coordinates projects with other departments to minimize risk and impact to existing and ongoing operations
o Compiles required documents for turnover of new or renovated space/equipment to area managers and facilities for maintenance
o Supports equipment qualification efforts an executes new equipment commissioning
o Enters data for new area/equipment into existing quality systems and databases as needed
o Coordinates any necessary specialized training for new systems and equipment

• Oversee work of contractors

• Designs and implements work in compliance with all safety, site cleanliness, and current good manufacturing practices (cGMP's)

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• Able to apply fundamental understanding and knowledge of systems to complete priority tasks within projects to align with department and/or business initiatives

• Able to proactively work with customers and stakeholders and develop peer relationships

• Able to support a team to gather consensus in a timely manner to keep projects advancing to completion

• Able to accept ambiguity and changing priorities

• Ability to maintain documents, records, and prepare reports and correspondence related to the work

Education and Experience:

• This position requires a minimum of a BS degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
