Project Scheduler (biotech)
Arcturus is seeking a Project Scheduler to support our Program Management team. In this newly-created role, you will act as a liaison between our Program Management department and Finance teams to ensure close project monitoring, forecasting and proper revenue recognition.
Work closely with key Program team members to develop and maintain detailed resource loaded timelines using MS Project for Programs/Projects that support business objectives. Work with Program Managers and/or Functional Leads to identify the critical paths; assess impacts of critical path activities and to provide scheduling guidance. Develop and maintain summary level Program/Project timeline reports: Gantt, milestone charts, and other tools used to support critical path analysis, near-term tasks work, priority-based resource allocations, performance variances, and to support cost/schedule integration. Maintain consistency of the scheduling approach to facilitate accuracy in Program/Project execution and reporting in collaboration with the Finance department. Create templates for baseline and progress schedule for Programs and Projects of various complexity and budgets. Proactively troubleshoot and monitor potential scheduling problems. Facilitate project scheduling meetings with Program Managers and the teams as required. Influences and negotiates with Program team members and stakeholders to gain alignment and win concessions without damaging relationships. Drives and promotes a culture of project management excellence in the organization. Supports continuous improvement of project delivery practices. Read and understand the terms of each contract to include the scope of work, cost allowability, billing issues, milestones, deliverables, and schedule. Establish and maintain cost/schedule baselines. Participate in a monthly review with PMO, Contracts, Finance, etc. to review each Program/Project in terms of cost, schedule, cash flow, deliverables, etc. Provide ad-hoc analysis and data to support the project, as needed. Support new corporate development activities or other initiatives performing tasks as required supporting department, portfolio or corporate needs. Qualifications:
A BS or MS degree in the Life Sciences; a background in business, accounting, finance or related field is a plus. The ideal candidate will have greater than 10 years’ experience in the biotech/pharmaceutical industry, with at least 6-8 years of relevant work experience in a project control role. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with all levels within the company, with partners and functional areas. Ability to summarize complex information in to simple concepts for broad communication to project teams as well as for management status reports. Knowledge of the drug development process is preferred. Strong proficiency with project management practices, tools, and methodology needed. Excellent analytical/problem solving and financial skills – an ability to identify, analyze, and help resolve problems timely & effectively. Ability to mine data to identify trends. Experience with project or task financial management and support including analyzing budgets, monitoring actual cost data, developing forecasts, and providing variance analysis. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple tasks going on simultaneously, with overlapping responsibilities and firm due dates. Excellent computer and analytical skills with proficiency in MS Project and Microsoft Excel such as pivot tables. About Us:
