Job Details

The primary functions of this position are conducting laboratory bench analyses in support of investigative preclinical and in vitro studies.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Support Preclinical Safety Toxicologists and Pathologists with key in vitro platforms for investigating toxicities and enabling optimal selection of drug candidates.
  • Participate in cross-functional efforts to identify optimal screening assays to detect toxicity liabilities early.
  • Develop/characterize fit-for-purpose in situ platforms focused on toxicology.
  • Develop/characterize biochemical assays as needed.
  • Responsible for routine RNA isolation/prep, TaqMan/RNASeq prep, cell culture support.
  • Produce/coordinate/present key data related to mechanisms of toxicity using in situ assays or other methods as needed.
  • Analyze and interpret relevant toxicology data in a timely manner and communicate data and interpretation to project stakeholders
  • Collaboratively transfer in vitro platforms and methods to/from other key groups within AbbVie as needed.
  • Conduct external presentation/publications.
  • Develop/perform laboratory methods to measure key endpoints in support of in vitro and in vivo studies.


  • BS in cell/molecular biology or a related field with 0-2 yrs experience
  • Analytical chemistry/biochemistry background a plus
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry a plus
