Job Details

This position supports AbbVie's North Chicago manufacturing operations: Elagolix, Survanta, and fermentation business. The successful candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills with both finance and non-finance personnel, a strong interest in product manufacturing processes and their related impacts on financial reporting, and the commitment to enable and encourage continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Support the annual cost standards setting and plan processes, developing charge out rates for plant services organizations functions (maintenance, hazardous waste, etc.), and building the annual budget for key spend items such as plant maintenance and waste disposal.
  • Act as the project leader for North Chicago Manufacturing in the implementation of the Operations Rate Development system; collaborate with the finance team to develop the best path forward and own the system setup and launch.
  • Management of Raw Materials (RMs): collaborate with both the Purchasing and the site's Materials Management organization to handle RM SAP setup, establish standard cost, monitor tracking and usage of all RMs used in plant production, working directly with the Materials Management group to reconcile inventory between the manufacturing plant and Supply Chain Operations.
  • Create the consolidation of North Chicago Manufacturing's actual financial results, develop the monthly reporting package, and assist in the development of monthly LBEs.
  • Maintain internal controls such as physical and perpetual inventory cycle counts and Sarbanes-Oxley reporting requirements.
  • Together with the Plant Controller, act as a lead for the North Chicago Operations finance team during internal and/or other audit engagements.
  • Development of cost standards for potential 3rd party manufacturing opportunities; other miscellaneous Ad Hoc projects involving analysis of spending and absorption as required.
  • Supervise 1 financial analyst.

Basic:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 5+ years of finance/accounting experience
  • Proficient in systems/spreadsheet consolidation skills
  • Possess a working knowledge of the Corporate Financial Manual (CFM) and the ability to apply accurate policies to business issues.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong multi-tasking abilities
Preferred:
  • Experience in a manufacturing setting with experience in plant cost accounting and/or operations
  • Experience with SAP in a plant environment
