Job Details

Amgen Neuroscience is looking for a motivated biologist to be a key contributor in our efforts to develop therapies for neurodegenerative disease at Amgen's site in Cambridge, MA (Amgen Massachusetts-AMA). As the field of neuroimmunology holds great potential for neurodegenerative disease treatments, the candidate will be charged with the design and generation of assays to drive decisions in the drug discovery process. Additionally, the role will also include the study of cellular and biochemical processes behind the genetic insights arising from our global collaborations. This position is for the dedicated experimentalist who seeks to work in a multidisciplinary team as part of our pre-clinical research. Core areas of focus will be translating genetics and human biology observations into both in vitro and in vivo systems to understand modifiers of neurodegenerative pathology.

Overall, the position is ideal for someone seeking to become a technical leader and a critical resource within Amgen Neuroscience. A core aim will be discovering new biological insight to enable drug discovery programs from target validation through clinical development.

Position Responsibilities
  • Planning and execution of cellular and biochemical in vitro assays to understand fundamental neurological and immunological processes. Responsible for delivering reproducible and well-controlled datasets according to project timelines
  • Generation of in vitro models and assays for drug discovery and target validation to demonstrate assay robustness
  • Perform in vitro pharmacology in automated and semi-automated assay workstreams
  • Assist team members in collaborative in vivo pharmacology with pre-clinical neurodegenerative disease models
  • Contribute innovation, ideas, and literature insights to support the development of novel approaches to study immune processes in the brain
