Job Details

We are building upon our solid oncology foundation and long-term commitment to patients by developing a whole new class of novel molecules - and we need top talent to ensure these molecules become medicines and realize their potential for helping patients.

The Department of Oncology and Inflammation Research at Amgen, South San Francisco is seeking a highly motivated Associate Scientist to perform research studies aimed at elucidating mechanisms of inflammation and immune-mediated regulation of cancer in order to develop novel therapies. S/he will be an integral member of a dynamic research team, collaborating with research scientists at multiple Amgen sites, and working closely with groups in other functional areas including Inflammation, Therapeutic Discovery, and Medical Sciences.

Position Responsibilities

Plan and perform in-vivo models of inflammation and cancer to support departmental research

Work in a team environment to collaborate and assist colleagues with pipeline programs and experiments

Analyze and interpret data to present to internal lab meetings

Manage and maintain electronic laboratory notebooks

Basic Qualifications

Master's degree and 2 years Scientific experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 4 years Scientific experience

Preferred Qualifications

Research experience in immunology, cancer biology, cell biology, or biochemistry

Expertise in one or more of the following areas: Cellular immunology techniques including multi-color flow cytometry and primary cell isolation, in vivo mouse models of cancer and/or inflammation, molecular biology, bioinformatics analysis of large gene expression datasets

Demonstrated track record of independent critical thinking and scientific achievement in research, exemplified by a strong publication record and/or significant contributions to a therapeutic development program

Strong verbal and written communication skills

Knowledgeable, highly motivated, creative, and collaborative
