Summary
Seeking a collaborative and innovative scientist to join the Immuno-Oncology Translational Bioinformatics group. This person would be responsible for helping advance Bristol-Myers Squibb's industry-leading immune-oncology pipeline through the application of machine learning, network analysis, and bioinformatics approaches on large-scale data sets from internal, public and real-world data. Help design experiments and conduct analyses of both pre-clinical and clinical omics data sets to nominate novel drug targets, enable patient enrichment strategies, and guide drug development decisions. Communicate with colleagues across the organization and influence all aspects of research and development at Bristol-Myers Squibb, from early discovery through late-stage development as a key contributor in Translational Medicine.
Responsibilities
Lead bioinformatics efforts on multi-disciplinary teams
Develop computational models and tools to enable data-driven target discovery and patient stratification for new therapeutic indications
Collaborate with other bioinformaticians, statisticians, cancer biologists, and immunologists to analyze internal and external high-dimensional data sets to nominate, prioritize, and validate novel targets for drug discovery and development
Guide development and implementation of bioinformatics tools that can illuminate biological mechanisms of resistance to checkpoint blockade
Communicate findings and recommend follow up actions in multiple settings (including: 1:1, seminars, group and project meetings)
Qualifications
Ph.D. in bioinformatics, engineering, statistics, cancer biology, immunology, genetics, or similar with 5+ years of industry experience.
Demonstrated ability of contributing to and helping advance multi-disciplinary team projects.
Expertise with a high-level programming language such as R or Python for complex data analysis and reproducible research practices.
Mastery in integrating and analyzing diverse high-dimensional, omics data sets relevant for immunology and oncology.
Capability to conduct systematic analyses to evaluate multiple hypotheses and prioritize clinically-relevant questions.
Scientific curiosity with an ability to identify questions bioinformatics approaches can address, and the skills to develop solutions both independently and collaboratively.
Excellent problem-solving and collaboration skills.
Strong communication, data presentation, and visualization skills.
Background in oncology/immuno-oncology and/or experience working with clinical trial data is a plus.
