The Investigative Toxicology and Pathology Group is searching for a highly motivated and self-driven candidate to conduct laboratory functions including histology and microscopy techniques (tissue processing, slide preparation, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization) and image analysis to contribute to understanding the relevance of safety findings of experimental compounds.

- Conduct laboratory tests including histology and microscopy techniques (tissue processing, slide preparation, immunohistochemistry, in situ hybridization) and image analysis.
- Participate in the design and conduct of experiments to identify and characterize toxic liabilities of lead candidates and investigate mechanisms of action: design experiments, collect samples from in vivo studies, generate protocols and relevant end points, analyze data, recommend solutions for issues.
- Partner with toxicologic pathologists, molecular toxicologists, and discovery scientists to obtain materials for analysis.
- Provide timely analysis and interpretation of data, communicate data and interpretation to project stakeholders, and help prepare reports.
- Respond quickly to information learned from ongoing experiments and provide input to project stakeholders to guide project direction and prioritization.
- Ensure proper documentation and archiving of all data generated.
- Comfortable working independently as well as part of a team with peers to achieve the assigned goals
- High School/GED is required AND at least 5 years prior technical experience in area(s) of specialty. Technical training completion/certification or associates degree may substitute for up to 2 years of required experience.
- Experience with histologic processing/sectioning/staining of tissues and immunohistochemistry required.
- ASCP Histotechnician (HT) or Histotechnologist (HTL) certification preferred.
- Skills in basic analytical, molecular biology, and biochemical procedures and cell biology tools (i.e., RT-PCR, Western blot, ELISA, in vitro cell culture techniques, transmission electron microscopy, and laser-capture microscopy) are desirable.
- Knowledge of basic regulatory requirements.
- Communication Skills - Ability to concisely communicate key issues to stakeholders.
- Analytical Skills - Ability to assess issues that arise, seek multiple perspectives, gather more information as needed, and identify key issues that need to be addressed.
- Computer Literacy - Basic competence of spreadsheets, word processing, and email and knowledge of computerized maintenance management systems and purchasing systems.
- Planning - Ability to design, plan, organize and implement tasks within an allotted timeframe.
