Iovance is seeking Senior Scientist/Principal Scientist to lead Research projects aiming at generating and studying autologous tumor infiltrating lymphocytes (TIL) for the treatment of cancer. Approaches include developing genetically engineered TIL with enhanced in vivo persistence and effector functions, as well as selecting TIL specific for tumor rejection antigens.

Specific Responsibilities

  • Lead two or more high-priority Research projects.
  • Design, oversee the execution of/execute, troubleshoot, and interpret the lab experiments involved in those Research projects.
  • Propose and implement new Research directions.
  • Report all results as both oral presentations and written documents in a clear and timely fashion for internal information.
  • Active member of Project teams for the development of TIL products that involves IND and later stage Regulatory submissions.
  • Participate in academic and business collaborations.
  • Identify patentable invention and support their filing.
  • Deliver the company message at international scientific meetings.
  • Manage at least one direct report.

Education and Qualifications

  • PhD in Immunology, Cell Biology, or related field with at least 10 years of combined academic and industry experience required.
  • In-depth knowledge of cancer biology and immuno-oncology as well as familiarity with current immunotherapeutic approaches supported by a strong peer-reviewed publication record.
  • Expertise in all relevant immunology and molecular biology techniques, including state-of-the-art gene/protein expression profiling and analysis methods, gene editing methods and assessments, and in vitro and in vivo assessments.
  • Upmost scientific rigor and exceptional work ethic.
  • Drug development experience.
  • Familiarity with Contract Research organizations.
  • Fluency with major scientific software and online resources.
  • Excellent communication skills in person and over conference calls with a variety of individuals from internal Research staff to academic collaborators, business partners, lawyers, and executive team.
  • Highly motivated individual, who adapts to new situations and wants to be part of a dynamic and growing team; must have collaborative spirit.
