SUMMARY

The Sr Metrology Technician will be responsible for designing, installing and validating multiple and complex calibration and measurement systems with minimal supervision. This individual will be will be a recognized expert in the field of pharmaceutical metrology.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare calibration procedures/job plans and associated training materials.
  • Maintain measurement uncertainty for primary/working standards and process instrumentation.
  • Perform Vendor Quality Audits of calibration service suppliers and oversee vendor quality issues.
  • Interface with Corporate Facilities Team regarding CMMS calibration issues.
  • Own and develop Global Calibration Control Program SOP and associated training material.
  • Serve as technical expert regarding calibration issues during regulatory inspections.
  • Provide technical consultation to others pertaining to measurement problems and lead technical project teams.
  • Implement corrective and preventative action projects pertaining to calibration and measurement issues.
  • Establish measurement traceability of laboratory standards and ensure that processes are in a state of statistical control.
  • Apply statistical process control, mathematical, physical science and advanced engineering tools and technologies to accomplish various metrology engineering objectives.
  • Prepare and deliver effective periodic briefings, presentations, and technical papers for company management, industry conferences, and other associated publications.


Basic Qualifications

Associate's degree and 4 years of Metrology experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 6 years of Metrology experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • BA degree in related field
  • 8+ years' experience in metrology, working at a large company primary standards laboratory level or comparable related technical activities, including application of advanced measurement engineering principles and technology related to highly complex technical assignments
  • 5+ years' experience working in a standards level laboratory in disciplines such as Thermometry, Relative Humidity and Dew Point
  • A demonstrated track record in the design, development, evaluation and testing of instrumentation systems and
  • The ability to interact with various departments/teams and other Amgen sites in order to implement a global calibration control program.
