Ipsen is seeking a Senior Director, Global Alliance Management, US with accountability for managing and optimizing a portfolio of selected global alliances as well as development of collaborative capabilities. This person will be responsible for the overall execution of alliances under the direction and guidance of the Senior Vice President, Global Business Development & Alliances Management. S/he will act as an intermediary between the partners.

The Senior Director, Global Alliance Management is responsible for the activities related to alliance processes, governance procedures, alliance analysis frameworks, metrics, reporting, organizational training and external promotion of alliances. S/he is accountable for proactively and strategically managing established and new alliance relationships. S/he will be able to proactively identify and mitigate issues at the appropriate level of partnership management and ensure proper governance of the alliance by organizing and coordinating the joint steering committees. The role works closely with internal stakeholders and members of the Global Business Development, External Innovation, and Partnering teams to ensure alliance strategy and operations are aligned with Ipsen's overall corporate strategy as partnered assets and partnerships evolve over time/development. The Senior Director, Global Alliance Management will be directly involved in establishing a robust reputation for Ipsen as partner-of-choice through a solution-based and relationship-focused alliance management aimed at achieving mutually beneficial outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Lead strategic alliance budget, performance monitoring and planning, including monitoring partners' performance and operations in coordination with business lead as well as planning and monitoring Ipsen's contractual obligations (milestones, royalties, option trigger/exercise etc.)
  • Collaborate with the Global Business Development team and participate in late-stage evaluation of BD opportunities with an alliance component, including assessing management risk posed by potential partner and alliance, to prepare for alliance implementation by providing contractual input and preparing for alliance start-up
  • Support new alliances and ensure a smooth transition and implementation post contract signature by leading the alliance launch process. This includes resourcing teams and leading kick-off meetings and ensuring a successful start to the collaboration
  • Be a key driver of the goals of the collaboration and manage the long-term relationships between Ipsen and their partners by acting as the key-interface with respect to the management of the legal and contractual framework established for the alliances
  • Represent the Strategic Alliance Management team within relevant global franchises and work directly with stakeholder functions e.g. Legal, R&D, Finance etc., to ensure harmonious collaboration and alignment with corporate BD strategy
  • Assist and support the SVP and the Global External Innovation and Partnering leadership in the preparation of activity reporting to senior management and Ipsen's Board of Directors
  • Serve as an Ipsen ambassador by participating in industry and professional conferences and forums to further build company's reputation in the marketplace


Education / Certifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Science required
  • A Certified Strategic Alliance Professional will be a plus


Experience
  • Minimum of 10 years industry experience in alliance management, operational management or strategic marketing from a global top biotech or medium-sized pharma company
  • An understanding of science, finance, and alliance management is critical.
  • Expertise in several of Ipsen's core therapeutic areas (e.g. Oncology, Neurology, and Rare Diseases) is highly desired.


Required Technical Competencies
  • Excellent relationship skills to enable networking and ability to build strong relationships and alliances both inside and outside of the organization.
  • Strong leadership skills coupled with the ability to lead cross-functional teams.
  • Sensitivity to (and familiarity with) the European and French business culture is an advantage
  • Solid negotiation skills and will have a track record of successfully establishing alliances as part of the negotiation team
