Amgen is seeking a Senior Associate IS Software Engineer - Visualizations to help realize Amgen's Research and Medical Informatics (R & MI) transformation strategy by developing a state-of-the-art analytical foundation platform that will enable generation of cross-capability business insights. You will be building upon our awarded Enterprise Data Lake to develop value added data products that span across Global Medical capabilities (Field Medical, Medical Communication, Medical Information, Publication, Evidence Generations and Insights). There is no more challenging data environment than Life Sciences due to the integration of scientific research, manufacturing, logistics of pharmaceutical products. You can expect to make a difference in providing patients with products that meet their medical needs in a competitive landscape.

The Senior Associate IS Software Engineer - Visualizations will report to the Senior Manager, Global Medical based out of Amgen's Capability Center in Tampa, FL. This state-of-the-art center serves as a base for finance, information systems, and human resources professionals to make a meaningful impact at one of the world's leading biotechnology companies.

Responsibilities:
  • Write queries, manipulate, and visualize data using visualization tool - Spotfire
  • Write custom codes using R, Python, JavaScript to create highly interactive dashboards
  • Review functional and technical designs to identify areas of risk and/or missing requirements
  • Provide technical write-ups and drawings to promote the proposed solutions
  • Collaborate with the business reporting lead to ensure all analytics services are reliable, maintainable, and well-integrated into existing platforms
  • Adhere to standard methodologies for testing and designing reusable code
  • Ensure effective communication between IS leads and business partners


Basic Qualifications:

Master's degree

OR

Bachelor's degree and 2 years of Information Systems experience

OR

Associate degree and 6 years of Information Systems experience

Or

High school diploma / GED and 8 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with end users to create mockups and design documents
  • Strong experience in data analytics, visualization, database technologies
  • Ability to write custom calculations (or queries) within the data visualization tool Spotfire
  • 3+ years' experience with major visualization tools specializing in Spotfire and Tableau
  • Experience working with relational databases/AWS Redshift/Databricks
  • Ability to query, load, and analyze data with the intent to identify patterns
  • Experience writing SQL to query databases, structure and modify data
  • Experience using JavaScript, R, python for writing custom logic for data visualization
  • Business domain knowledge in biotech/pharma/research and development
  • Experience modeling data in either a database or visualization tool
  • Understanding of Reporting Lifecycle including adoption, training, and change management
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong experience working with agile methodology & DevOps (Jenkins, JIRA, GitHub) frameworks with successful experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Strong learning agility, ability to pick up new technologies to meet business requirement
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and technical expertise to be able to communicate effectively with business and technology partners
  • Experience with semantic technologies, reporting/dashboarding/visualizations tools and approaches
  • Biotech / Pharma exposure
