Summary:
We are seeking a talented and motivated R&D Associate / Specialist to join our highly dynamic neuroscience team. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and execution of experiments to understand the mechanisms of neurodegenerative diseases, discover new therapeutic targets and validate novel therapeutic strategies. We are looking to recruit a candidate with in vitro experience and strong in vivo expertise in neuroscience and models of neurodegenerative disease.

Responsibilities:

• Perform cell culture and cell-based assays with immortalized cell lines and primary neurons.

• Evaluate misfolded protein uptake, aggregation and spread using biochemistry, immunocytochemistry and immunohistochemistry.

• Test novel therapeutic strategies in in vitro and in vivo models of neurodegenerative diseases.

• Assist with mouse colony management, perform animal handling, behavioral assays, tissue dissection and collection in animal models of neurodegenerative diseases.

• Survey current and relevant literature to expand scientific and technical knowledge, optimize and develop new assays and bring innovative ideas.

• Perform advanced data analysis as well as troubleshooting with minimal supervision.

• Keep up-to-date and well-organized records of experiments.

• Contribute to writing of protocols and articles for publication.

• Communicate and report experimental findings at group and departmental meetings.

Requirements:

Minimum Years of Experience: At least BS + 2 / MS +1 Neuroscience, Biochemistry, Biology, or a related discipline. The candidate should have hands-on experience in a laboratory research setting and be comfortable conducting experiments that support both in vitro and in vivo efforts. Industry or academic experience in animal handling/behavior, biochemical, molecular biology, cell culture and cell-based techniques is preferred. Excellent verbal and communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment are required.
