Amgen is seeking a Staff Relations Manager- Investigations who will work in our Staff Relations group. The Staff Relations Manager will report to the Staff Relations Investigations Lead and will work out of Amgen's Capability Center (ACC) in Tampa, FL.

Staff Relations is a specialized Human Resources function in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. Staff Relations investigators investigate potential violations of Amgen's Human Resources policies. This person will support our colleagues in Puerto Rico primarily and at the ACC and other east coast sites as needed.

  • Independently conduct internal HR investigations, determine findings, and prepare all required documentation
  • Identify relevant investigation issues, potential evidence, and investigative actions
  • Plan, schedule and conduct effective interviews of complainants, subjects, and witnesses
  • Gather and review relevant evidence and records
  • Analyze information collected from witnesses and evidence and reach timely and well-reasoned conclusions
  • Effectively assess witness credibility
  • Create professional, well-drafted investigation records, including investigation plans and summaries
  • Report investigation findings to HR colleagues and business leaders in a clear, concise manner
  • Maintain confidentiality and sensitivity to all issues, and conduct investigations in an unbiased manner

Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree


Master's degree and 2 years of Investigations experience


Bachelor's degree and 4 years of Investigations experience


Associate's degree and 10 years of Investigations experience


High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Investigations experience

Preferred Qualifications
  • Fluency (written and verbal) in both English and Spanish strongly preferred
  • Bachelor's degree
  • Previous experience in an HR investigations role
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and fairly apply company policy, internal HR procedures, investigation procedures, and regulatory guidelines within scope of duties
  • Ability to maintain and report on confidential information in an appropriate manner
  • In-depth knowledge of federal and state laws governing employment and labor (Equal Employment Opportunity, Americans with Disabilities Act, National Labor Relations, etc.)
  • Awareness of emerging HR compliance issues, internally and externally, and the implications to the company
  • Prior experience interfacing with government enforcement agencies (Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Fair Employment Agencies, Department Of Labor, etc.)
  • Ability to conduct research and present findings in an organized manner
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise independent judgment and establish and maintain working relationships with a variety of individuals and groups
  • Proven ability to manage conflicting priorities and organize time
  • Ability to manage a heavy workload and complete tasks in a timely manner, balancing high quality and efficiency
  • Excellent communication skills: written/oral/listening
  • Proven ability to manage difficult conversations and interactions
  • Demonstrated customer service/client orientation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; E-mail (Outlook) and Internet
