Our Quality Control team is ready to give you the opportunity to grow your career in our Microbiology division at the AbbVie Bioresearch Center (ABC) located in Worcester, MA.

As a Section Manager, you will provide leadership, training and direction for your team by building a culture of high performance in monitoring, and troubleshooting microbiological assays.

Key Responsibilities Include:
  • Leading all aspects of the environmental and utility programs
  • Go-to expert matter on all microbiological assays
  • Interprets experimental data for conformance with product and material specifications
  • Presents microbiological studies that support laboratory methods
  • Coordinates appropriate disposition of all samples through the timely release of complete, accurate test results
  • Ensures our laboratory is in compliance with appropriate regulatory requirements
  • Coordinates projects as directed by department manager to implement efficiencies in business process improvements
  • Writes and reviews investigations, and procedures as necessary
  • Maintains trend reports, backlog report, and document error reports which support departmental performance
  • Participates in selection, hiring, training, termination, promotion or placement of employee in their group; Conducts performance reviews of direct reports; Assists with employee development

  • Bachelors, Masters, or PhD degree in related discipline with typically 8+ (BS), 6+ (MS) or 4+ (PhD) years of experience
  • Management experience with demonstrated interpersonal abilities, leadership qualities, and effective communication skills
  • Familiar with microbiology related sciences and business
  • Broad understanding of issues relevant to technical/science and business
  • Related knowledge in Product Quality Control, Quality Control Lab Operation and Regulatory requirements
  • Validated experience working independently to meet operational goals and business needs
  • Confirmed experience to make operational and business decisions with minimum direction from immediate manager
  • Experience interacting and establishing positive interaction with internal/external customers
