The Reliability Engineer is a corporate team role and is responsible for being a key leader on the Maintenance and Reliability management network. This position will work with the Reliability network to drive the improvement of asset reliability and championing the defect elimination process. The Reliability Engineer will apply knowledge and experience to ensure continuous improvement to optimize Amgen's physical assets and Maintenance and Reliability processes and strategies. The candidate will be directly involved in the continued implementation and leadership of a progressive and integrated Reliability Centered Maintenance and Equipment Reliability Improvement process across multiple Amgen sites globally.

Responsibilities:

  • Champion of site and region asset health improvement and production process stability. Drive consistent application of RCMs (Reliability Centered Maintenance strategies) / RCAs (Root Cause Analysis) and ensures consistent follow up. Participate on regional asset health improvement processes and lead regional asset health initiatives.
  • Lead Reliability Excellence activities and initiatives. Conduct RE sustainability assessments and follow up actions. Share / implement RE best practices across the network and region. Support all efforts in the execution of site and network level reliability excellence/maintenance programs and processes to effectively increase asset (equipment, instrumentation and facility system) reliability and compliance.
  • Ensure that the appropriate Maintenance and Reliability metrics are in place throughout the site i.e. asset utilization (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), cost metrics, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), replacement asset value.
  • Create and conduct data analysis, statistical studies and evaluate trends across multiple Amgen sites.
  • Create risk mitigation strategies for critical assets that can be deployed across the asset portfolio.
  • Develop and execute statistical reliability studies to support calibration and maintenance intervals. Work with site SME's in the implementation for defined statistical recommendations.
  • Facilitate the evaluation of how and when PdM (Predictive Maintenance) technologies should be deployed.
  • Provide support for equipment failure and root cause analysis investigations.
  • Support the site and network SME's through prioritization of Reliability Excellence activities. Identify and prioritize RE value creation opportunities for the network. Own the Bad Actor identification, quantification and elimination process for the network in conjunction with the region.
  • Develop site level engineer and technician capabilities regarding the use and application of all necessary PdM technologies.
  • Provide guidance on the purchase and use of PdM and precision maintenance related hardware and software.
  • Support the development of the Reliability Engineering Team and the site. Ensuring that RE talent is built, developed and maintained across network.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree and 2 years of Maintenance, Reliability and/or Calibration experience

OR

Master's degree and 6 years of Maintenance, Reliability and/or Calibration experience

OR

Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Maintenance, Reliability and/or Calibration experience

OR

Associate's degree and 10 years of Maintenance, Reliability and/or Calibration experience

OR

High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Maintenance, Reliability and/or Calibration experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, Biosystems Engineering or other engineering discipline.
  • 5+years' experience in production, maintenance, or project management.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead people and get results through others.
  • Training and knowledge of predictive maintenance technologies (vibration, analysis, tribology)
  • Training and knowledge of management of the proactive maintenance model.
  • Demonstrated ability to identify and implement detailed solutions to complex technical problems.
  • Demonstrated execution capacity.
  • Ability to adapt and learn in a changing work environment.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to promote and work within an inclusive environment.
  • Demonstrated strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written, within multiple levels of the organization and with customers.
  • Ability to balance and achieve positive results in all areas found in a Biotech/Pharmaceutical manufacturing, research, process development and, quality environment.
  • Ability to travel as needed
  • Ability to develop reporting tools in diverse platform.
  • Knowledge in corporate CMMS (MAXIMO)
  • Ability to manage work schedule across multiple time zones
  • Certified Plant Engineer or Certified Maintenance Reliability Professional
