Job Details
The Strategic Planning & Operations Senior Manager (SP&O SM) based out of our global headquarters in Thousand Oaks, CA partners with the Global Medical TA Heads to drive TA strategy and implement therapeutic area goals and initiatives as well as collaborate cross functionally as requested by the TA Head. The SP&O SM serves as a strategic partner to the Global Medical TA Heads.
Responsibilities:
- Act as a sounding board/advisor to the TA Head on key activities and issues
- Facilitate preparation of internal presentations including Staff presentations and reports on TA performance
- Manage and execute daily assigned tasks upon request of TA Head
- Develop and/or drive execution of TA Head communication plan
- Work with TA Head to organize staff meetings to achieve objectives for the therapeutic area
- Facilitate TA goal setting and initiatives and track deliverables
- Identify lead or contribute to initiatives/process improvement opportunities as designated by TA Head
- Assist in interactions at senior level forums as needed
- Reinforce proper decision making according to Amgen's Decision Making Framework
- Monitor and communicate progress and adherence to timelines
- Planning and facilitating meetings including generating presentation materials and tracking of actions
- Work with the GMAT Sr. PMs as a primary point of contact to support annual and quarterly budget activities at the TA Level
- Identifying and efficiently resolving issues, driving decisions, and tracking action items; appropriately and quickly escalate issues
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders; proactively seeking buy-in and providing on-going support to address business needs
- Adapting and thriving in a rapidly changing and fast-moving environment
- Demonstrating strong written/oral communication skills and executive presence across functions and across different levels of leadership
Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree and 2 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience
OR
Master's degree and 6 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 8 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Scientific and/or Operations and/or Business experience
Preferred Qualifications
MBA, Master's Degree, PhD, or PharmD
Work experience in life sciences or medically related field, including research and development experience in biopharmaceutical/pharmaceutical industry
Pharma/Biotech industry knowledge with focus on Research and Development
Knowledge to represent and evaluate strategies and to critically evaluate advice
Knowledge of GxP, FDA and international regulations and guidelines
Knowledge of biopharmaceutical compliance
Project management/project planning experience overseeing program deliverables, budgets, and timelines
Excellent verbal/written communication skills, including listening & presentation skills
Conceptual and strategic thinking skills; can take concepts and execute independently
Strong problem-solving skills• Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, ability to effectively work across the matrix
Track record of establishing trusted partnerships with colleagues at all levels
Ability to successfully prioritize a diverse workload to meet deadlines, and client expectations
Ability to effectively lead cross-functional teams and to influence without authority
Ability to work effectively as a member of a team, maintaining strictest confidentiality
