Summary

The Research Investigator at Lead Evaluation will join a team located in Princeton, New Jersey (LVL) to develop gene profiling assays for target ID and validation, hit identification and lead optimization with a focus on genomic, transcriptomic and bioinformatic approaches. The group will work in close proximity with Immuno-Oncology, Oncology and Genomics, Translational Medicine, and Translational Research at LVL with a mission to discover and develop an innovative Immuno-oncology and Oncology pipeline. The qualified candidate is a motivated, interactive, and creative individual that possesses substantial experience in studying tumor biology/immunology and genomics, especially with hands-on experience with NanoString or other RNA based technology platforms and single cell isolation by flow cytometry and microfluidic-based approaches. The ideal candidate should effectively collaborate with colleagues across the Discovery therapeutic areas with a core responsibility to optimize and miniaturize cutting-edge techniques in order to develop high throughput gene profiling assay suites like qPCR assays from hits-to-leads screens, target engagement assays and in vivo model development and validation. In addition, this candidate will develop and run high throughput assays using diverse technology platforms to support lead optimization for Oncology and Immuno-oncology drug discovery programs. The suitable candidate will run and expand the existing gene profiling assay suite in LDO and work directly with Discovery working groups to ensure alignment between LDO gene profiling capabilities and the needs of the Discovery portfolio with the flexibility to adapt to a rapidly changing IO/Oncology field. The successful candidate will demonstrate clear and professional verbal and written communication, capable of presenting scientific results to multidisciplinary teams and taking a strong leadership role in the matrix organization cross Discovery functions including LDO. S/he will keep up-to-date in the literature related to his/her field, act as an expert resource in his/her scientific field and in related disciplines. The position is located in Princeton, NJ.

Requirements

A Ph.D. degree in cell, tumor or molecular biology with a focus on cancer genomics and bioinformatics

A proven track record in the field of cancer biology, genomics and bioinformatics as evidenced by publication record

Key technical skills include proficiency in qPCR, RNAseq and bioinformatics and statistical methods associated with RNAseq and similar genomic technologies

Experience with Nanostring, flow cytometry and microfluidics approaches to cell isolation with knowledge of preclinical models such as xenografts and genetically engineered mouse models of cancer a plus

Hands on experience in assay automation and cell based assays supporting oncology and immunology will be ideal

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with people, internally and externally

Excellent oral and written communication skills

Able to effectively present scientific data and concepts to international standards
