Summary:

A laboratory scientist or engineer with a sound understanding of modern principles and techniques used for the analytical characterization of monoclonal IgG antibodies. The ideal candidate is motivated by a dynamic, fast paced environment and a collegial team-oriented approach. He/she will design and execute analytical experiments independently with minimal guidance, in support of manufacturing process development and characterization efforts within the department. He/she also takes the initiative to design and implement improvements that further the capabilities of the analytics team. This team supports both Upstream and Downstream development, and all proteins in the pipeline, from Early Clinical Development, through Commercialization.

Responsibilities:

• Designs, executes, and leads multiple analytical development projects. Manages small project teams (1-2 people) independently and with minimal direction. Analyzes and interprets results and designs well-controlled experiments based on previous results. Contributes to project advancement by developing new methods or technologies, and troubleshooting. Suggests modifications to protocols or alternative protocols. Routinely works on multiple projects simultaneously.

• Communicates experimental results, conclusions, and ideas directly to supervisor, "project team" members, and scientists and engineers in other laboratories. Presents at department meetings. Capable of writing experimental protocols, development reports, and SOPs with minimal supervision.

• Keeps up with the latest scientific and engineering developments by reading the current literature and attending conferences.

• Has cross-functional knowledge and skills, consistently making contributions to his/her functional area.

• Manages projects/teams through construction of or adherence to departmental/company timelines.

• Contributes to continuous improvement efforts within functional area.

Requirements:
This position requires a minimum of a MS/MEng degree and 0-3 years of experience or a BS and 3-5 years of experience. Experience should include:

• HPLC, UPLC, JMP (or related statistical analysis software), microfluidics chip electrophoresis

• Possesses a working knowledge of research principles, theories, design of experiments (DoE), and implementation.

• Demonstrates strong technical expertise in a number of analytical methods and techniques, including but not limited to H/UPLC, electrophoresis, and ELISA. Experience using and/or programming automated liquid handlers a plus.

• Proven skillset in laboratory bench technique, including but not limited to single-channel and multi-channel pipetting, spectrophotometry, and preparation of buffers.

• Enjoys working in small project teams and cooperatively/collaboratively with peers

• Possesses excellent organizational, communication, analytical, and computer skills.

• Proficiency in software for statistics (e.g. JMP) and/or liquid chromatography control (e.g. Empower, Chemstation, Chromeleon) a plus.

A clearly stated GPA is required for consideration.
