AveXis is advancing cutting-edge science, starting with our proprietary gene therapy for the treatment of spinal muscular atrophy (SMA). We are in the midst of an incredible journey and are looking for passionate individuals to join us on this important mission.

AveXis, a Novartis company, is dedicated to developing and commercializing novel treatments for patients suffering from rare and life-threatening neurological genetic diseases. Our initial product is a proprietary gene therapy approved by the US Food and Drug Administration for the treatment of pediatric patients with SMA. In addition to developing a treatment for SMA, AveXis also plans to develop other novel treatments for rare neurological diseases, including Rett syndrome and a genetic form of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis caused by mutations in the superoxide dismutase 1 (SOD1) gene.

AveXis is seeking a Meeting Planner to be a key member of the training team within the company's commercial organization. The Meeting Planner will partner closely with the sales, marketing, advocacy, and managed markets team members as well as the legal/compliance teams to provide planning, coordination and management for all aspects of commercial meetings and events, including choosing meeting locations, arranging transportation, and coordinating other details.

Responsibilities

 

 

  • Plans and develops agendas, budgets, and services according to customer requirements.
  • Consults with customers in order to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.
  • Inspects event facilities in order to ensure that they conform to customer requirements.
  • Negotiates contracts with such service providers and suppliers as hotels, convention centers, and speakers.
  • Coordinates services for events, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing and event security.
  • Arranges the availability of audio-visual equipment, transportation, displays, and other event needs.
  • Monitors event activities in order to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws, satisfaction of participants, and resolution of any problems that arise.
  • Confers with staff at a chosen event site in order to coordinate details.
  • Reviews event bills for accuracy and approves payment.
  • Maintains records of event aspects, including financial details.
  • Conducts post-event evaluations in order to determine how future events could be improved.

 


Qualifications

 

 

 

 

 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience, and a minimum of 3 years of progressive pharmaceutical experience with a minimum of 2 years planning meetings.
  • High level of interpersonal savvy, organizational agility, emotional intelligence and the ability to deal with ambiguity.
  • Ability to manage change and organizational transformation through collaboration.
  • Results oriented.
  • Delivers high impact and value in projects and initiatives.
  • Proven track record of taking initiative and operating in a pro-active manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a highly collaborative role, and independently when necessary.

 


The level of this position will be based on the final candidate's qualifications.
