We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as Senior Manager, Scientific Communications within Global Medical Affairs - Oncology & Cell Therapy.This individual will help create and manage the development of educational materials for the Medical Affairs team (Medical Scientists, Medical Affairs physicians, advisory boards and other scientific presentations) as appropriate as well as scientific materials for key congresses. He/she will also be requested to synthesize scientific and clinical information for support of Medical Affairs activities. The Senior Manager, Scientific Communications will work cross-functionally with clinical development, bio statistics, and key business partners to execute on tactics consistent with overall in-line and pipeline strategy. This position will report to the Senior Director, Scientific Communications, Global Medical Affairs - Oncology & Cell Therapy.

Responsibilities (include but are not limited to):
  • Achieve subject matter expertise in Cell Therapy to create and deliver scientific exchange tools in alignment with early- and late-stage subject matter experts, Product and Portfolio Management teams, and alliance partners to create high-impact scientific and medical tools for the medical science field teams, medical affairs scientific presentations, and scientific booth materials at key congresses
  • Oversee and manage Medical Communications projects and other related work to facilitate the achievement of both short- and long-term objectives for internal stakeholders
  • Lead and coordinate all planning activities for key congresses (e.g., AACR, ASCO, SITC, ASH) working with cross-functional partners for strategic alignment
  • Independently collect and critically analyze pertinent internal and external data
  • Supervise the dissemination of pertinent data as needed for Medical Affairs. These data will include product and competitive bibliographies, scientific literature, educational and review materials
  • Coordinate medical writing with internal and external medical writers to ensure timely delivery and submission of deliverables
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with counterparts in other functional areas (e.g., MS training, marketing) to fully understand business needs and how Medical Communications can meet such needs
  • Guide and oversee medical writers, editors, project managers, vendors, draft budgets, and
  • Analyze, interpret, and communicate scientific and medical insights to internal and external stakeholders, contributing to Data Review Meetings and Scientific and Medical Communication trainings, and developing content for scientific Advisory Boards, Investigator Meetings, and Scientific Exchange/Gap Analysis events

  • Terminal degree in pharmacy, medicine, or life science (PharmD, PhD, MD)
  • 5+ years of experience in Medical Affairs (e.g., biotech/pharmaceutical, Contract Research Organization, Medical Communications or consulting agency) or academic research, including 2+ years in hematology/oncology and/or cell therapy
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, communication, and collaborative skills with individuals, groups, and senior management (internal and external)
  • Ability to write/edit/review scientific presentations, posters and abstracts with a medically strategic mindset
  • MS office and advanced proficiency in Power Point is required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead and work in cross-functional environments (Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Translational Research, Research & Development, Legal, Intellectual Property, Biometrics, and Regulatory functions) and lead decision-making discussions
  • Pre- and post-launch experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience in hematology/oncology and/or immuno-oncology or related therapeutic area preferred
  • Experience in solid tumor is a plus, but not necessary
  • Expert knowledge of and compliance with all relevant guidelines, laws, and corporate policies.
  • Knowledge of medical, legal, and regulatory review processes is required
  • Ability to work under challenging deadlines with key stakeholders
  • This position will be located in Santa Monica, CA; remote is possible for the right candidate
  • Up to 20% travel including weekends
