We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join us as an Associate Scientist in the Department of Translational Medicine. You will work with the Translational Medicine team in supporting our clinical development efforts in the exciting new area of cellular based cancer immunotherapy. Under minimal direction, you will be expected to perform experiments, organize and analyze results, and communicate and present findings in team meetings. You will also be asked to perform other duties as required. In this role you will report to a Research Scientist.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Conduct clinical trial biospecimen data acquisition and analysis
  • Develop, qualify, and deploy creative assays for clinical immune monitoring
  • Dedicatedly troubleshoot technical issues and recommend potential corrective actions based on data review, literature searches and interactions with other Kite scientists
  • Write, review, and edit technical documents including SOPs, development/qualification protocols and reports
  • Support the transfer of methods internally and to contract-testing labs
  • Prepare data packages for publication, presentation and/or submission to regulatory agencies
  • Give to the selection and implementation of new assay technology capabilities intended to advance Kite's clinical development strategy
  • Other duties as assigned


Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in immunology, cancer biology or a closely-related field and 6+ years of industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience with diagnostic technologies with an emphasis on immunoassays (ELISA, Luminex, MSD, and ProteinSimple) in a GLP-like laboratory setting
  • Knowledge of biomarker discovery and development: assay development/validation, clinical discovery of biomarkers, and clinical sample testing.
  • Familiarity in the areas of tumor biology, immunology and immuno-oncology
  • A dream to meticulously execute bench work
  • Strong social and record-keeping skills
  • Hands-on expertise culturing cell lines and primary cells (human T cells and/or PBMCs) is desirable
  • Familiarity with new technologies
  • Excellent social, verbal and written communication skills are critical in this reciprocal work environment
  • Comfortable in a dynamic environment with minimal direction and able to adjust workload based upon changing priorities
