Amgen is seeking a Product Specialist, contracts and pricing to join Global Commercial Operations IS (GCO IS) group. This role will support the Strategic Pricing & Contracts (SPC) organization and be a member of US Contracts and Pricing product team, with a focus on master data management, contracts, chargebacks and payer rebates. The Product Specialist will efficiently achieve the integration and orchestration of all activities required for product development and will attend strategic cross-functional meetings to facilitate the optimization of processes through implementation of technology solutions.

Key responsibilities of the Product Specialist include:
  • Have a deep understanding of pharmaceutical contracts and pricing technologies, including chargebacks, managed care, channel, rebates & fees and master data management (products, pricing, contracts, customers and memberships), and drive for IT product development. Additionally, have a strong interest in finding and implementing innovative new technologies to support Amgen commercial operations.
  • Work in Agile product team as product specialist and scrum master, on backlog grooming, daily standup meeting, sprint planning, release planning, prioritization and effort estimate. Align and inspire the product vision with platform provider. Work with Amgen cross-functional teams on systems integration, master data management, data and analytics services, etc.
  • Follow and improve company's software development lifecycle process to plan, design, build, test and maintain capabilities within and across commercial product modules.
  • Develop capabilities to support government pricing calculations from commercial perspective.
  • Optimize master data and transaction data performance and delivery, design infrastructure for greater scalability to support the short cycle business model, familiar to use AWS, Databricks and MuleSoft.
  • Review code and data engineering work conducted by vendors before production deploy.
  • Identify and enable new capabilities and technologies required to ingest, process and analyze pharmaceutical commercial data.
  • Evaluate and introduce emerging technologies to enhance data analytics capabilities at Amgen. Drive insights for contracts evaluation and discount recommendation.
  • Daily operational support to make sure systems are performed to enable Amgen customers get correct prices per products per contracts, all payers get correct rebates and fees, and all wholesalers get correct chargebacks.
  • The analyst will interface with and manage teams such as program management, development teams, operations, commercial operations, customer service, sales, brand/marketing, legal, safety, to lend clarification and support to requirements definition at all stages of the product life cycle.


Basic Qualifications

Doctorate degree
OR
Master's degree and 3 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Bachelor's degree and 5 years of Information Systems experience
OR
Associate's degree and 10 years of Information Systems experience
OR
High school diploma / GED and 12 years of Information Systems experience

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in pharmaceutical and/or healthcare industry with focus on information system management, data management and integration.
  • Understanding of FDA regulations governing computer systems in biotech commercial areas.
  • Ability to work in a changing environment, under pressure, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills to work across and up through the organization, including escalation and mitigation of issues, risks, and business impacts. Product stakeholder communication skills to manage business relationships.
  • Advanced problem-solving capabilities and ability to use constraints as opportunities.
  • Working understanding of Agile, Scrum, Design Thinking, and Lean Startup principles.
  • Ability to master, with minimal support, new IS technologies and processes.
  • Solid business acumen, understanding of what are the key business drivers that will generate desired results and promote use cases.
  • Strong project management and technical skills and experience.
  • Working experience with product development, software development and software architecture.
  • Experience with enterprise grade applications such as AWS, Databricks, Salesforce, MuleSoft, JIRA, ALM and pharmaceutical revenue management systems such as Model N, Revitas.
  • Experience with Tableau and other reporting and analytics tools.
  • Excellent influencing skills, with demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and effectively with key business partners, IT leadership teams, and external service providers.
